Naruto sighed as he walked through the park. The day was peaceful. A few lazy clouds wafted through a sky that was as blue as a robin's egg. There was barely a breeze, but it was enough to keep the day comfortably cool without being annoyingly windy. All in all the absolute most perfect day someone could ever want. Ever.
Except Naruto.
"Aww man, it's so boring! There's nothing to do!" Naruto grumbled as he strolled along through between a line of trees. "Iruka's off doing all kinds of important stuff, I haven't seen Konohamaru since we became arch-rivals, I can't find Sakura anywhere, and I don't have anybody to hang out with? This sucks!" Naruto sighed. Such a perfect day wasted because he couldn't find anything interesting to do. Not one.
Well...there's always pranks, I suppose... he thought absently. Might as well, since I've got nothing better to do. But...what should I do? Naruto stopped under a tree and crouched down, picking up a twig in the sand to draw out his master plan. Unfortunately Naruto was no artist and when he could make no more sense of his own diagram he scuffed it out with his foot and tossed the stick into a nearby bush.
"What to do..." Naruto hopped to his feet quickly. "I'll just go around spooking people! Haha! It's classic! People's reactions never get old!" Naruto looked around and found a low-hanging branch that had a fairly decent amount of leaves on it...right over the path. Perfect!
Naruto quickly climbed up the tree and crawled out on the branch. When someone walked beneath, he'd swing around, hanging by his knees and pop up right in their face and yell something random to make people double-take! Then he could really enjoy the day! Naruto, you have really outdone yourself this time!
He waited for a while, but it seemed like nobody was coming. Huh...you'd think more people'd be in the park on a day like today--oh hey! Someone's coming! Naruto scrunched down. It looked like...Hinata! She looked kinda distracted, but she managed to turn to look in the right direction when Naruto swung from the underside of the tree branch, yelling "Hold me tight!" at the top of his lungs. Naruto had a gut feeling that these next few seconds would be absolutely priceless!

~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hinata had been in a daze after her time with Naruto a few days earlier. While she knew that there really wasn't anything between them from it, she still couldn't help but feel fluttery about it all. It had started off awkward and kind of kept getting more awkward after that. During all of lunch she had a blush on her face, and she couldn't look Naruto in the eye most of the time. Overall, she had made a complete fool of herself. However, and this was probably the more important thing, so did Naruto. It actually made her feel better to see her 'idol', so to speak, act awkward and confused. Made her seem a little more normal, like she wasn't an awkward, blushing failure.
In fact, the confidence boost had been affecting her training. Spurred onwards, during the last few days she had done better than she normally did. Sure, the fact that her normal was usually sub-par lessened the impact, but that didn't matter to Hinata. It was going to take time for her to progress, and she had a long way to go before she was anywhere near where she needed to be. Still, recalling Naruto acting, well, like her was giving her some hope she could be as confident as him one day.
Right now, however, wasn't a time to be having romantic fantasies. Her training was done for the morning, and in between morning and noon training she had to make lunch. Considering her status as the failure, she usually made her own lunch and shared with the others. She didn't need to do it; they still tolerated her enough to serve her. But Hinata wanted to do it. There was some obscure hope in her that by learning to be self-sufficient, to do all the work like this, could help her. It was odd logic, more like something her cousin Neji's teammate Lee would think of. But she thought she could learn a few things from him; after all, his situation was worse than hers, right? In fact, his determination outpaced Naruto's, though in the end she still much preferred Naruto. He was ostracized by the village, but fought back anyway. Still, together they were wonderful role models. Hinata just hoped she would be able to be like them, even a little bit, one day.
The park was a shortcut on the way to the market, and it was rather calming too. Nobody was around right now, so Hinata was just gently walking along. Her hands were behind her back, and for all intents and purposes she looked like she didn't have a care in the world. Out here, alone, thinking about Naruto. Oddly (or sadly) enough), this was a good day for her. As she was walking, however, she heard some rustling in a tree nearby
"Must be a bird or something?" she commented, standing to see whether or not there was a bird. Just as she turned around, she found herself face to face with Naruto yelling at her to hold him tight.
Her reaction wasn't anything hard to guess.
"N-Naruto!" she stammered out as her face turned a bright red, like a tomato. Her head was sweating, heart beating rapidly, palms sweat.
She didn't get a chance to say anything else. Blackness took over her vision, fuzzyness her mind, and the next thing she knew she was on the ground out like a light. Her face was still red after falling down, but in a few minutes worth of time she would calm down a little...hopefully, maybe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~
Naruto had a goofy grin on as he hopped out of the tree. "That's a good reaction, Hinata! I spooked you good, right?" Naruto waited for a few moments for Hinata to sit up. Naruto could feel a slight trickle of sweat down his neck. "Ummm, Hinata?" When he got no response, he moved over a bit closer, and looked at her. "Oh no! She fainted? It wasn't that scary!"
Naruto looked at Hinata more closely. "Hmmm, her face is flushed, just like last time, was she training really hard again? Hmmm what did I do to help her out last time?" Naruto crossed his arms and put one hand under his chin to help him remember. It'd been a few days ago, so he should eventually be able to remember it. "Ah! That's right, I got her water! Hang on Hinata, I'll be right back!" Naruto went dashing off through the park until he found a bottle of water. He snagged it and quickly made his way back to where Hinata was still out cold.
"All right, all that's left now is to wait until she wakes up!" Naruto crouched next to Hinata. It'd probably be really bad if he simply left Hinata in the condition she was in. Wasn't she part of some super-special family or something? Plus if he just left her there, he'd look like some kinda major jerk. Naruto was a prankster, not a jerk, and jerks weren't the kinds of people that ended up being Hokages.
Naruto held the bottle of water in one hand. It was cool water too, the outside was starting to sweat, making it harder to hold onto. Naruto looked at the bottle. Now that he thought about it, he was getting a little thirsty. I could probably take some, it wouldn't be a big deal. Naruto tried to twist the lid of the bottle off, only to find it stubbornly refused to move. "Why you little!" Naruto twisted harder, but the lid still refused to come off. Naruto contemplated throwing the bottle against a tree to see if that loosened the cap, but decided against it, he'd probably end up breaking the stupid thing.
"Okay, lets go! Once more, I won't give up!" Naruto gave the bottle a final twist and was rewarded when the bottlecap made a satisfying "pop." Unfortunately the force of his last twist, sent the slippery bottle sliding right out of his hand. Naruto fumbled with it for a few long moments to keep it from landing on the unconcious Hinata. He breathed a sigh of relief as he caught the bottle, then went to take a drink. "Huh? Where's all the water?"
The bottle was empty. Naruto turned to look at Hinata, a growing sense of dread in the pit of his stomach. "No!" In the process of trying to catch the bottle, it had all spilled, soaking the unconcious Hinata. "Aww, man, why me?" Naruto fluttered around for a few moments trying to figure out what he should do to keep the situation from getting really bad. Naruto quickly cobbled together a plan, he would use his own jacket to keep Hinata dry and get her out of her wet one so she didn't catch a cold or anything.
Naruto looked around. The last thing he needed was for somebody to run into him taking off Hinata's jacket. That'd just create all kinds of problems that Naruto really didn't need to deal with. It'd help if he wasn't standing in the middle of the road either. He'd have to move her first. Naruto pulled off his jacket and wrapped it around Hinata before picking her up and walking off the path to put her at the base of the tree he had climbed up on. Just after he'd picked her up he heard her start to regain conciousness. "Hey, Hinata, you okay?"
~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unconscious, Hinata was unaware of all the chaos that she had caused by fainting again. She had the faint sense of something going on, but that was about it. She was sleeping rather peacefully on the hard ground. Whenever she woke up, she’d probably be kicking herself for fainting again. But was it really her fault? When she went out this morning she really didn’t expect Naruto to pop out of nowhere right in her face, screaming “Hold me tight!” That was just asking for her to faint, or at least run the heck out of there with a red face. Of course she had to take the first option. Then again, last time she did this she ended up having a rather nice time with Naruto-kun, so maybe it wouldn’t be that bad, right?
Of course, when Hinata finally gained some form of consciousness, it involved getting water spilt all over her jacket. Some of it had splashed on her face, but she was still rather drowsy to really do anything. All that she could make out was Naruto acting frantically about something, and a water bottle. Did Naruto poor the water on her to wake her up? Her mind vaguely remembered telling Naruto the last time she had fainted was because of overheating during training, and so his logic probably thought cooling her down would help. Too drowsy to laugh, she just had a faint smile, but that turned into more surprise when she found Naruto carrying her.
As she was set down at the tree, Hinata’s mind was finally getting clear enough to actually be able to do something. Shifting around a bit so she was more comfortable, Hinata soon found herself having to answer for her fainting. Theoretically she could have gone with the whole training thing again, but then Naruto might start worrying about her for over exerting herself. Same thing if she told him that she was just sleepy. Her mind rushed to find an excuse, and eventually she settled on the plain old truth; he had scared her half to death.
”I-I’m fine Naruto-kun. You kind of scared me, that’s all. I don’t do that well with surprises…” Hinata answered, diverting her eyes from him and blushing a little. It was embarrassing, but she really didn’t like surprises that much. Well, at least Naruto’s kind of surprise.
Remembering that she had water all over her, Hinata glanced down to asses the damage. Her jacket was pretty thick, so it didn’t soak through all the way. It would dry eventually, and she doubted it would really damage anything. Still, it wouldn’t be proper for her to go around with a wet jacket like that since the stains were rather noticeable. At the same time, she was still kind of embarrassed by what Naruto had said the last time they met, so she was hesitant to take her jacket off.
”I’m sorry if I caused you any trouble.” she apologized, hoping Naruto hadn’t gone out of his way for her again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~

Naruto was worried for a while. It seemed to him that Hinata was taking an awfully long time to wake up. Oh no, did she hit her head or something when she passed out?! Is she allergic to something in the water?!?! Unfortunately for Naruto, he had happened to be asleep the day they'd talked about first aid in the Academy, so he really didn't know what to do or what was going on.
Then, much to his relief, Hinata spoke up. Looks like she was fine after all! Naruto smiled and nodded, not wanting to show that he had been panicking a few moments earlier. "It's good that you're okay!" He looked at her and chuckled a bit. "Don't do well with surprises, eh? I kinda noticed, ha ha!"
Naruto leaned back against the tree, and looked up again at the almost annoyingly nice day. "Trouble? Naaah, I wasn't really doing much today anyways, so no trouble at all." Naruto looked over at Hinata and noticed her face was flushed, again.
"Hey, you look red again...you training today too?" Naruto asked. "You look kinda like you did last time. I thought I'd get you some water, but...it slipped and I, uh, spilled it." Naruto shrugged apologetically. "Sorry about that, I just got a little klutzy because the bottle was slippery. My bad."

~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hinata didn’t make eye contact with Naruto when he mentioned he noticed she wasn’t good at surprises. This was the second time now she had fainted in front of him after he surprised her. This was starting to set a very embarrassing precedent. Was she going to faint every time that she saw Naruto? Hinata really hoped that wouldn’t be the case. How could she do anything, even talk to him, if that happened? Besides, for every time she fainted, she would remember it next time she saw him. That would only increase the stress on her every time they met and, oh, it was such a dangerous cycle. And it worried Naruto, which she really didn’t do.
However, she felt a little better when Naruto told her that she wasn’t that much trouble. It was a relief, though she had a feeling he might have just been saying that. Naruto never liked to tell other people his problems or when he was bothered. Instead, he would just stand up to the world and fight back. If he was bothered by her issues, she wasn’t going to find out by talking to him and asking.
”I really am sorry I fainted on you again Naruto. I-I just wasn’t expecting you to drop out of a tree in front of me like that.” she replied, poking around with her fingers again.
When Naruto asked her about her face, and admitting to slipping and spilling the water, Hinata looked up. Her face was looking more normal now, but he was asking if she had been training. That really wasn’t the case obviously; it was too early and she was getting groceries. However, she needed to give Naruto an excuse or something. Maybe she could just be a little bit honest? After all, most girls would be kind of embarrassed if a guy dropped out of a tree like that saying “Hold me tight.”
”I wasn’t training Naruto. What you had said was kind of embarrassing for me.” she replied. Before he went on to apologize for the water.
”Don’t worry Naruto. This jacket is rather thick so it didn’t soak through all the way. I should be fine.” she replied, even though there was a huge stain right where the water spilled. It was true it didn’t soak through to her clothes though ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~ .
Naruto sat quietly. It looked like Hinata was thinking over something important, and Naruto knew that when he was thinking of stuff together like that, he usually ended up completely unaware of the people around him. So he stayed quiet, opting to flop to the base of the tree trunk, leaning casually against it.
Naruto sat looking up at the bright blue sky and almost missed when Hinata finally began speaking again. If it hadn't been for the fact that virtually nothing was happening, Naruto probably would have missed it. Y'know, she's not the loud and boisterous type in the slightest, is she? Not like Sakura at all!
Naruto waved her concern off and put on his best "maverick" grin, one that he'd honed through the years of Academy pranks. "Well, if you were expecting me, that'd kinda take the whole point out of scaring you, y'know?" He sighed softly and leaned more heavily on the tree from where he sat.
"You weren't training, huh? So then...uh...what were you doing?" The more Naruto thought into it, the less he could make sense of. None of the errands he would run needed to be done so early in the morning. He really didn't mean to pry with the question, but he wasn't quite the smoothest talker around, even Naruto knew that, and it irritated him a bit.
Naruto breathed a sigh of relief when Hinata said that the jacket was going to be okay. Looks like I didn't mess that one up too badly after all! "Well that's good. Wouldn't be good if you got a cold or something from my little whoopsie."
Naruto sat there for a while and he could feel the conversation start to deaden. Awww, man, I hate awkward silences... Naruto racked his brains for a way to keep the conversation going. "So...um, wait, what I said was embarrassing for you?" Naruto couldn't really remember what it was he had said. Hinata's subsequent faint had been enough to throw him off his game, plus his memory was horrible to begin with. "Why?"
~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Naruto just grinned at her, letting her know that if he was expected the whole point was for not. Technically he was right, but that didn’t make it any less scary. Just looking over at him, Hinata saw as he just leaned back on his tree. Glancing back down, she conceded his point.
”I guess your right Naruto. It’s not much of a prank if someone is expecting it.”
Not wanting Naruto to feel guilty about it, Hinata put on a fake smile of her own. Her nerves were calmed down some by now, so it wasn’t too hard. Besides, it wasn’t completely fake; after all, the prank was giving her a chance to speak with Naruto again. Hopefully, minus that slip up, this meeting could go a lot better than her last one with him. It was just a prank after all, nothing to get mad at…not like she could stay mad at Naruto of course.
Not surprisingly, Naruto asked what it was that she had been doing since she was training. Finally, a question she could answer without being embarrassed to death in answering it.
”Well, you see, I did do some training, but right now I was going to get some supplies for making lunch to have later after a little more training. I was just using the park as a bit of a shortcut.” she responded, a little more comfortable speaking that than she had anything else so far. Small, trivial knowledge like that was easy to talk about, which was why Naruto’s next comment made her feel a little better as well. It just about her jacket, glad she wouldn’t get a cold or anything from walking around wet all day.
”No, I guess it wouldn’t. I knew someday this jacket would serve a purpose; I just didn’t think protecting me from water would be it.” she replied, feeling comfortable enough to try and make a joke. However, it sounded kind of lame after she said it, so she just kind of let the conversation drop off into an awkward silence again. That was, until Naruto asked why she was embarrassed by what he said. This startled her a little bit, with a slight blush.
”Oh, uhm, well,” she responded quickly before any real thoughts entered her head. How could she explain to Naruto why being told “Hold me tight!” was embarrassing. She had a feeling if any of the other girls had been in her situation, Naruto would have been beaten to a pulp. Hmmm, that might serve as a good excuse; blame it on just being a girl and all that stuff. A cheap shot, yes. A true statement, not so much. But the alternative was telling Naruto what she felt about him, and that might be worse.
”Uhm, well, you see Naruto, think of it from my perspective. How would you have felt if some girl just dropped right in front of your face and told you to ‘Hold me tight!’. And like I said, I’m very bad with surprises, so that just made it all worse.”
Hinata didn’t think it that great of an explanation, but hoped that Naruto would buy it and not pry into things further. She still didn’t feel up to the task of explaining to Naruto her feelings. Besides, he was still after Sakura, and she didn’t want to mess up his head right now. As long as he was happy, she was going to be happy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~

Naruto nodded sagely. He considered himself to be the resident pranking expert in Konoha. It was only natural for him to be good at pranks, and know just exactly what he was doing with them. It looked like Hinata had a decent grasp of the principles at least, if not maybe how to react to the pranks. "Yup! I suppose it's just like being a ninja! It's all about the element of surprise!"
He listened as Hinata explained what she had been doing in the park. She had been training a little bit, then had gotten things for lunch and intended to do some more training. Naruto had to admit, it was more training than he had planned on for the day. But then, it was one of those kind of lazy, sunny days where you didn't want to do anything. Naruto would bet money that Shikamaru would be doing something like napping somewhere.
"So you were training, huh? Good for you! Not too many people would train on a nice day like this!" He turned his head and grinned at Hinata. "And looks like having the jacket was a good idea, even if it does make your face a bit warm!"
Naruto shrugged. "Really am sorry about dropping water on you. You're pretty nice, and it was an accident!" In truth, it didn't deeply matter to Naruto if Hinata was angry about it. He'd deal, just like he dealt with all the villagers that shunned and snubbed him whenever he went by on the street. It was just something that he'd gotten used to and ignored. Still, there was no reason to give people any more reasons than absolutely necessary. Half the village can't even take a prank!
When Hinata got red in the face and began to stammer out a response, Naruto looked at her quizzically. Did a bug or something fly down her throat? She was having an awfully hard time trying to say whatever it was. Eventually she managed to get an answer out and Naruto crossed his arms thoughtfully.
"Your...position...hmmmm." Naruto closed his eyes and tried to envision himself a few minutes earlier, taking the park as a shortcut. Hmm, walking along and all of a sudden, WHAM! Sakura pops out of the tree! Naruto felt a smile light his face. Now that was a mental image he could live with!
But wait, what if it was someone else? Naruto frowned in thought. Well, he'd probably be a little startled for a bit, but anybody that could prank Naruto, the number one maverick comedy ninja, deserved a measure of respect. He'd probably compliment them on how good a prank it was...
Naruto opened his eyes. So that was what Hinata was doing! She was complimenting his skill at pranks! She must be really bad at speaking to other people. It was up to Naruto to help her out! "So, it was an awesome prank, right?" Naruto was not into subtlety.

~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ”I guess that’s an appropriate comparison.” Hinata responded when Naruto said being a prankster was like being a ninja. It made some sort of sense; you bad to be stealthy in both situations, with the element of surprise and everything. Hopefully Naruto could use his pranks skills as a ninja; in that case he could turn out to be a really decent ninja one day. As long as he didn’t try to paint faces on the enemies or something….
Naruto then complimented her for training on a nice day like this. Odd, a day like this would be considered a good day for training. It was sunny, warm but no hot. Then again, Naruto didn’t mind being lazy sometimes so maybe it was just him. That and she had reasons to be training; she needed to improve herself, to get stronger so maybe one day she could, first off, be able to talk to Naruto without stammering, and to just generally improve herself. Maybe get her father’s approval; that would be nice as well. Besides, she needed to stay in shape for any missions that her team might get.
”I’m just trying to do my best is all.” she replied as Naruto grinned at her while making a comment about her jacket. It was kind of warm, but she was used to it. Besides, she usually didn’t wear it while training, as Naruto found out the other day. A quick blush occurred, though Naruto saying she was pretty nice as he apologized about the water again helped that. He had probably been expecting her to get mad at him or something; he was always getting yelled at, and Hinata could see how the people of the village looked at him. Sure, she really didn’t understand why they snubbed him like that, but she still thought it wrong. Naruto was rather nice when you actually tried to talk to him, if maybe a little rude and blunt at times.
”Please, don’t worry about it Naruto. Accidents happen after all.”
After a rather troublesome display of trying to talk, Hinata finally responded to Naruto’s questioning. He went into a thoughtful pose, and Hinata just sat there hoping he’d get her point. It was taking a bit, and there was a slight smile on his face. She had forgotten that Naruto probably wouldn’t mind a girl popping out in front of him like that. Hmm, maybe her comparison had been badly explained. Naruto was thinking Naruto; she had meant for him to think as someone else, maybe her. Eventually he opened his eyes, and asked if it was an awesome prank. Hinata sighed a little, seeing as he had missed the point completely, but just decided to go with it.
”It was a good prank Naruto, even if I’m not the best person to be pranked on.” she responded, hoping to put Naruto in a better mood and to forget about the water. With that, Hinata sat silently, not sure what to do next. She still needed to get supplies for lunch, but she probably couldn’t just leave Naruto here. He might scare someone else like he did to her. Then again, last time she went with him for lunch things got kind of awkward so he might not want to eat with her. Hinata just sat there, indecisive on what to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~
Naruto nodded. It looked like Hinata understood, much more than Iruka-sensei seemed to. He pondered that for a moment. Iruka might understand, but he could never really approve of it as a teacher. Well, it was moot point. Iruka hadn't been there to stop him this time!
"I'm sure everybody's trying their best. I know I'm giving it all! I'll catch up to that jerk Sasuke one of these days! It's gonna be real soon!" He gritted his teeth, even thinking about his teammate and how effortlessly everything came to him bugged him! Naruto knew that he would do anything he could to reach that same level.
Naruto kinda chuckled sheepishly when Hinata insisted that he stop worrying about the water. "Well as long as its okay. I get into enough trouble as it is, didn't need to be in trouble with everybody I've met." Naruto kept a smile on his face. He really didn't notice any more. It was easier on him for him to do that.
The silence lasted a few moments and Naruto felt his brain racing. Awkward silences were not his favorites, and they seemed to crop up all over the place with Hinata. He'd have to see about fixing that. Didn't she say she was bad at surprises? That was it!
With a grin, Naruto turned to Hinata. "You don't do well on the recieving end of pranks, right?" Naruto's blue eyes seemed to sparkle with a mischevious light. "What about being on the dealing end? If you don't deal well with surprises, deal surprises!" Naruto jumped up and began to scan the area for another good spot to prank people.
Naruto would take Hinata on as a pranking apprentice! She'd learn to deal with the surprises by learning how to surprise people! It was brilliant! "C'mon, follow me!" The fact that Hinata had been doing things before and hadn't agreed to his pranking lessons didn't even register. Naruto was excited. Finally I have something I can do all day and not get bored!
~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, it was apparent that Naruto didn’t like Sasuke that much. Hinata never really got into him like, well, just about every other girl in the Academy did. Sure, he was okay, but he was so quiet, and Hinata got the same vibes from him that she did from Neji; cold, calculating, and filled with an anger about something. Over all, she preferred Naruto over him. Still, she wouldn’t say Sasuke was a jerk, and Naruto did kind of antagonize him a bit. So she was going to have to disagree with Naruto a little bit on this one, though at least he was having Sasuke as a rival. Having a rival was supposed to help you get stronger, right? Or at least one method of doing so. Still, she didn’t want Naruto to actively hate the guy, which is what it sounded like.
”Naruto, do you not like Sasuke that much? I mean, I don’t know him all that well, but admittedly his personality reminds me a little bit of, uhm,” she didn’t want to name Neji by name,”someone else I know who has a lot of troubles, so maybe you could lighten up on him a little bit? After all, one should really try and get along with their teammates.”
After telling him to stop with the worry about the water, Naruto mentioned he was in trouble with just about everyone he met. Again, Hinata admittedly could see how that could be the case; after all, he was a prankster. Still, Hinata had a feeling that there was something else that people didn’t like about him; after all, they had hated him longer than he had been a big-time prankster. She just really wished she knew what it was that people dislike him for. However, she doubted Naruto would know himself, and even if he did that he would just tell her about it.
”Please, don’t worry about it too much. It sounds like you have a lot of worries of your own.” was all she could reply with in order to not sound like she was trying to pry into his life. Soon awkward silence came, till Naruto looked at her with a grin and a mischievous light in his eyes. Hinata just listened as he basically said that if she wasn’t good at being surprised she should surprise others.
”Huh? What? Wait, Naruto!” she tried to yell out, but he was off and scanning the area again, probably oblivious to anything she just tried to say. Hinata didn’t want to try and scare people, and she doubted she could actually scare anyone if she tried. Besides, Naruto just said he was getting in trouble with everyone he met; he didn’t need to make it worse by surprising others. Still, that look he gave her screamed “I’m doing this no matter what!” Hinata realized she wasn’t going to get much of a choice in this matter, was she?
When Naruto told her to follow him, Hinata stood up and followed behind him. She glanced around, hoping that nobody she knew was watching. There was a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach about this, but she didn’t want to disappoint Naruto. Though if things began to go too far, she was going to have to stand up to herself…against Naruto…alone….was it too late to go home already? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~

Naruto was grinning like an idiot as he took off looking for more likely spots for pranks, now that he had taken Hinata as his "apprentice."
"Kidnapped" would be a better word for it really. As big and oblivious a dunce as Naruto was, he hadn't noticed that Hinata hadn't agreed to his declaration to take her and teach her how to surprise people, and therefore avoid getting surprised in the process.
She asked him something along the way, but Naruto was too excited to really notice. He thought he'd heard something about Sasuke, but he'd taken off quickly enough that he didn't really hear it. He jogged along down the path looking for any good spots for a prank ambush like he'd launched against Hinata.
Finally he spotted what he was looking for. It was hedge that was tall and long enough to hide them both and wait for the passerby. He turned around and spotted Hinata following behind him and waved her over before climing into the hedge.
"Oi! Hinata! Over here's a great place!" He hunkered down inside a small gap in the hedge and looked out at the path on the other side. As locations went, it couldn't get much better, he had to admit.
Once Hinata had made her way over. Naruto looked out through the hedge again. He didn't think he'd be too visible, even with his typical orange jumpsuit. After all, stealth was the important first step to a successful prank.
"Okay, Hinata, do you need some pointers or are you ready to try yourself out?" Naruto risked poking his head out of the shrub...hedge...thing he was hiding in. Just was was the difference between shrubs and hedges, anways? Naruto had never gotten it, and it looked like it wouldn't suddenly dawn on him today either...

~~~Hinata Hyuuga~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Naruto had apparently ignored or didn’t hear Hinata’s comment about Sasuke. Hinata just sighed, slightly annoyed by it. She had hoped maybe to get something serious out of Naruto, but just went along with it. That was just how Naruto was; he didn’t let things that bothered him remain in his mind long. He’d just forget it and move on to the next thing. He was Konoha’s most hyperactive ninja after all. Still, it would have been nice to be heard, but Hinata was use to it. Next time she might just have to speak a little louder so Naruto could hear her. She was rather quiet after all.
Following behind him, Hinata just watched as Naruto scouted out a location for her to ambush someone. She still wasn’t that sure of the whole idea; after all, she doubted she could scare someone, and she really didn’t want to. Plus, if her father heard she was running around the park with Naruto and jumping out of bushes, he probably wouldn’t be that happy. Still, with Naruto being this excited, she really didn’t have the heart to tell him no. He was always smiling, but this was one of those moments you knew the smile was a genuine one and not him putting on a brave face. She didn’t want to disappoint him by telling him no. If she at least ‘tried’, that would make him happy, right?
Eventually Naruto seemed to find a spot; a gap in a hedge. Naruto was already inside of it when Hinata got there, and was probably ‘testing’ it out to see if it was a good spot or not. Hinata got behind the hedge alongside him and sat down on her knees, blushing a little bit being right next to him out of site. Removing unwanted thoughts from her mind, she listened as Naruto asked if she needed some pointers or not on how to scare someone. Well, that might not be a bad idea if she wanted to at least act like she was trying. Besides, if he was too busy talking maybe he’d not notice other people and not force her to scare them?
”Uhm, some pointers might be nice Naruto.” she replied. A little bit uncomfortable, Hinata began to shift around, but one of the strings on her hood got caught on a branch of the hedge, throwing her off enough that in her attempt to shift her position she lost her balance, crashing right into Naruto as she did so. She soon found herself and him on the ground, with her on top. Her face was right next to his, though she didn’t faint. It was mostly because she didn’t want to faint right on top of him; that would have been worse than this. Still, there was a slight second of hesitance to get up before she quickly pushed herself back up.
”I-I….I’m sorry…Naruto-kun. I-it was…an accident…sorry.” she squeaked out, too embarrassed and red in the fact to even look at him. Getting back at on her knees, she pinched herself tight on the legs to keep herself from fainting from embarrassment. That would only make the situation worse right now. Her face was focusing on a particular piece of grass, trying to avoid as much eye contact with Naruto as possible. Her heart was beating rather fast as well, but she was amazed she was still up at this point. Glancing up at Naruto to see what his reaction was, Hinata figured now might be a good time for them to maybe go do something else. After this she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be stuck with Naruto in small, hidden places, afraid she’d fall on top of him or something like that again.
”N-Naruto-kun, do you think we could do this some other day? I m-mean the pranking, not spending time with you, I-if you still want me around….” she responded. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~The Heiress of the Hyuuga Clan ~~~
Naruto squatted down in the bush, shrub, plant thing and looked out through the leaves. He didn't see anybody coming either way down the path. It could be a while before anybody might come down the street. Still, for a proper prank to work, it required a bit of patience, even from someone as hyperactive as Naruto.
He looked over at Hinata as she crawled in. It looked like she was flushed in the face a little bit. He didn't think it that surprising. He had taken off pretty fast, after all. Naruto idly wondered if Hinata's face was always flushed. Every time he looked at her, it always seemed to be flushed. Maybe she was sick all the time or something? He'd heard there were people like that.
Still, it'd be blunt and rude even for Naruto to say that. Right now she was asking for tips. Naruto put his hand on his chin thoughtfully. He thought it made him look intelligent and experienced. He peeked out through the bushes/shrub/plant thing again. "Tips, huh? The first thing is to find a good spot where nobody can see you! After that...you wait, and the final part is to do something that nobody expects!"
He turned back to Hinata. "If you can do all three, then you're set. Now we have to wa--" His statement was interrupted when Hinata's jacket got tangled up inside the bush/hedge/shrub thing and she fell forward and crashed into Naruto.
"WHOA!" Naruto fell over and laid there stunned and confused for a moment. He hadn't really seen what happened, but he knew that Hinata had fallen onto him. When he sat back up and rubbed his head where it had hit the soil. Hinata after a while had sat up quicky, red in the face and apologizing a lot. It confused Naruto for a while until he remembered the last time he'd spent time with Hinata.
That's right, she wants to go out with Kiba doesn't she? Naruto thought, still oblivious to the true source of Hinata's crush. "It's okay Hinata, I understand it's a bit awkward." Naruto looked at her seriously. The poor girl was really uptight about that wasn't she?
"I won't tell Kiba about the accident since you like him!"
When she asked if they could do anything else, Naruto rolled himself out of the plant/hedge/bush and looked around. There was nobody in sight anywhere in the park. "Yeah, we might as well go somewhere else. This place is dead!"
