She gave him a bit of a peculiar look, Anko did. She turned back around to face him in such a sudden manner that he was mildly surprised. He slightly widened both of his eyes. He had expected her to stay facing forward, but he figured he shouldn’t have assumed for sake of being surprised…this was Anko Mitarashi, a bit of an unpredictable sort of shinobi. Not that that was bad…but it was a bit spontaneous, so to speak.
As she spoke, Kakashi blinked. She hadn’t seemed phased at all by his scar, which was a ogod thing, but now she asked if he would turn his Sharingan against her. He was a bit taken aback by the question. He wouldn’t turn his Sharingan against a loyal shinobi of Konoha…ever. Though he detected a teasing note in her voice, he still made haste to pull his forehead protector down over his Sharingan, fumbling with it awkwardly as he adjusted it so it sat just so on his face and head.
He glanced away from her and put his hands in his pockets. He wondered why she repeatedly moved her hand up to the same place on her neck. Even though she had been teasing, he still disliked her thinking that he would use his Sharingan against her. He preferred to hide the fact that he wasn’t as apt at manipulative and rather powerful Genjutsu like an Uchiha-born Sharingan-holder. Apparently, this thing on her neck…whatever it was…she preferred to keep it hidden as well, and Kakashi had a feeling it wasn’t just a sore muscle.
”No…” Kakashi murmured, in response to her question, ”I wont turn my Sharingan against you…I would never do that to anyone who didn’t deserve it. However…” he paused, and looked from her face, to the book, and back again. ”I would indeed like my book back…reading some of it from time to time keeps me awake, see?”
He had to admit that he was running out of ideas of what to do. He didn’t want to hurt her…not that he would intentionally, and he didn’t want to come off as over-the-top by making some physical action like going for her wrist for her to let go of the book. He straightened before he said ”If you don’t want me to pry the book from you, I suggest you keep both of your hands on the book…and not repeatedly two-one-two-one.” he told her, giving her a look from his right eye that said Ill take it by force if necessary…

Anko smirked slightly when he said that he would never use the Sharingan on her without a good reason. She knew that probably meant that unless she turned on the village that there was little chance he would use it on her. She would hope that he would take her serious when in a fight against him if they ever got into one. She did hate being treated like she was a unpredictable person in a mist of a fight, but she knew she was.
She lowered her hand away from her shoulder since she knew she was drawing unwanted attention to it. The last thing she really wanted to explain to him the curse mark on her shoulder and who gave it to her. She hated that part of her life anyways and there was no way that she was going to tell Kakashi that for the most part, no not until they talked more and got to know each other better. She sighed slightly, but her mind was drawn out of itself when he told he that she would better do go and give the book back or keep both hands on it.
She raised her eyebrow slightly and looked back down to the book. She had not realize that she was taking one hand off and back on again and he caught on rather face. She knew she would have to keep better attention of things, but it was harder than what it looked for her for the most part. However, she developed a small smirk on her face and dismissed the idea all together about keeping the book. It seemed to mean something more to him than anything. She shrugged it off and actually tossed the book back to him. She knew the book nearly by heart and the way he acted when she recited a bit from it; it was clear that he did as well.
She walked pass him slightly and making sure her shoulder bumped into his slightly as she walked closer to the edge of the head she was standing on. Her lavender eyes wandered around the village and a smile crept on her face for now. She tilted her head back to him slightly, but her range of turn was not that great for the most part. ”Why…do you give so much to the village….” It was a simple question from one shinobi to another right?

Kakashi watched her still, a bit surreptitiously. Her hand remained on her neck, even as she spoke. He couldn’t think of what she’d cover, but whatever it was, he found no need for her to draw attention to it. Truthfully, her coat already covered whatever there was to be seen, and in Kakashi’s opinion, she actually made matters worse for herself by placing a hand over it. He smirked slightly, thankful for the mask in front of his face to hide his expression. He had mastered the art of letting his mouth portray any emotion while keeping his visible eye (or when revealed, eyes) completely neutral.
Suddenly, she moved quickly, tossing the book back to its rightful owner. Surprised, Kakashi stuck his hand out to catch it, grappling for it a bit as it bounced against his palm a couple of times before he got a firm hold on it. He was almost embarrassed to have been seen make such a clumsy action. However, he let it pass. He flicked open the book to the page he’d left off on before closing it again, brushing his thumb over the cover, which was beginning to wear with age and what one could call very loving usage…being read many-a-time.
Turning his gaze up to the sky once she looked away brought a feeling of calm to him. The day had started out fairly clear, but now it was returning to more of an overcast. In the distance, he was almost sure he would soon be able to hear thunder, and he tilted his chin up slightly to raise his sensitive nose to the air indistinctly. He quietly inhaled and smelled the air. It was thick with rising humidity, but there was also the scent of rain yet to come. He turned his head slightly to glance behind him. The sky was darker. Definitely a coming storm…might be good for some training… he thought.
His few thoughts were interrupted by her voice. ”Why do you give so much to the village?” Kakashi blinked and turned his gaze back on her briefly before looking over the rooftops of the houses and through the visible streets, watching the citizens go about their day down below. The question caught him a bit off guard, and it was not the sort of question he was asked on an everyday basis. Considering carefully, he decided to give her a simple, but effective answer.
”There is no real obvious reason for why I, as a shinobi, give so much to the village. I could tell you any number of things, from it is my home to it is simply the right thing to do. But, in the greatest sense, I prefer not to think of my loyalty being judged by something as simple as that…” His words were cut off by a low clap of thunder rumbling behind them. So, he had been right after all.
”I am an inheritor of the Will of Fire…” he continued, using the phrase the Third Hokage granted to the younger generations. ”And that fire that courses through my veins is the driving force of everything I do as a shinobi.”
