^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the sun finally rose and light streamed into the bedroom, it had absolutely nothing to land on except an empty bed and a counter with an empty egg cartoons. The owner of the bed was long gone on a morning training exercise. Sleep? Eh, he had already gotten enough sleep. Right now was training time, a time to get stronger, faster, and more powerful than he was the day before, heck, even the minute before. There was no time to be tired when that was what was at stake, right?
”997…998…. 999…1000” Lee counted off as he kicked at his training post.
Finally meeting his goal (it only took him the last hour or so), he placed his leg on the ground and took a breather. His leg was twitching like it was ready to go at the post again; muscle memory, a phenomenon that Lee was very familiar with. It happened all the time, and did have the benefit of gaining him a few extra hours of training, even if that time was while he was sleeping. Still, there was other exercises that he needed to get to work on before everybody else was up and moving about. So for now his leg was going to have to sit still, which eventually led to a nice, sore feeling in his legs. A sign of hard work no doubt.
While he was itching to get right back to work on a new exercise, even Lee knew he had to take a quick break. Staying hydrated was a very important part of exercising, so Lee walked over to his water bottle and finished off about half of it in one gulp. After an hour of such straining work, a cool gulp of water like that was rather refreshing. Later on during his jog around the village he would stop by somewhere real quick and fill it up again. That would probably happen after he was done with his punches, or would he do sit-ups this morning?
As Lee stood debating what to do next, a creaking sound could be heard behind him. Confused, Lee turned around and watched as the training post he had been kicking began to tilt. Within moments it completely fell over with smash. There was only one explanation as for why this had happened; he had kicked the post so many times so hard he had basically chopped it down. Now that was a good sign of a good workout. What was that, the second post this month? Lee was surprised that he had not been reprimanded for it.
There was nothing he could do about it now, however; he had other concerns to deal with. With the post gone, he obviously could not practice his punches. Theoretically he could use a tree, but the last time he did that the tree almost hit the village walls (he had to use the biggest, tallest, and thickest tree after all). Lee had expected to be kicked out of the world of the shinobi. However, the Third had been rather impressed he had done such a thing all by himself…before telling him to do such training as far from the village as possible. Lee, of course, responded rather enthusiastically to the demand by adding in a two-mile jog to the training site everyday. He was expecting Neji, TenTen, and Gai to show up in a few hours, however, so he could not go too far from the village. That left him with the park to be his training ground today. He couldn't do any extreme training either because of that. So that meant only one thing to do…
”All right then. If I can not do 2000 sit ups by the time the rest of my team arrives, then I will run up and down the stairs of the park 250 times on my hands!”
The goal set, Lee sat down on the ground, placed his hands behind his head, and began his sit ups.
”1..2..3..4..5…” He expected this to take an hour or two at the most as long as nothing distracted him. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

how troublesome...`` SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS JUST A CLOUD, FLOATING ALONG... Mornings... who in their right mind actually liked them? If it were up to Shikamaru Nara, nobody would ever have to get up before, say... noon. So why on earth was the boy up today far before his usual time? Well, her name would be Yoshino Nara, and her power would be being able of scaring Shikamaru into doing anything that she wanted him to. He hated hearing her "nagging" voice, as he called it; which was the tone of voice she used just to get under his skin. It enabled her the ability to have him pretty much race out of the house. Today, while his reactions were a little bit slower than usual, he was definitely up much earlier than he was used to. As the lazy kid sat up in bed, he glanced at the clock; it was eight in the morning. This had to be some sort of record or something. Shikamaru had only been up this early when he was out on missions, and that was usually because he had been up all night. The boy could do that, it was just once he was asleep... he was out. He slept like the dead, and it seemed the only thing that could wake him up was a good shout from a loud, bossy female voice. That voice was usually his mother, and on occasion his teammate Ino.
Stumbling out of bed in a still half-asleep state (which closely resembled the form of his drunken father) Shikamaru wondered what it was that made his mother wake him up at this ungodly hour. Only one thing annoyed her this much; when his father wasn't home when he said he would be. He must still have been out of the village on a mission, Shikamaru guessed. That was very unfortunate for the genin. He decided that the best way to escape this unfortunate wrath would be to come up with a really great excuse as to why he was leaving, bolt out the door and go gaze at the clouds at the park. Yeah, that sounde quite logical by Shikamaru's standards. Besides, he could probably take a nice, long nap out there as long as the weather was nice. Shikamaru did remember his mother telling him what the weather would be like today.. sunny, if his memory told him correctly. And it rarely ever lied. His brain was his greatest tool, despite what some people thought based on his grades leaving the academy.
Stumbling into his usual outfit - consisting of a mesh t-shirt, a green vest and brown shorts - Shikamaru didn't even bother equipping himself with his ninja tools. While it was routine now, he didn't expect himself to be training; at least, as long as he could avoid it. pulling his hair back into it's usual spikey ponytail, Shikamaru slipped on his sandals and exited his room quietly. He creeped downstairs, making his way past the kitchen where his mother was at work, doing something or another. "Er, sorry but I have to go... Asuma-sensei called a meeting for team 10." Shikamaru didn't wait for his mother to turn around, instead taking her nod as a reply. He dashed out of the house, instantly blinded by the sunlight that streamed down on him. Shielding his eyes from the sun, Shikamaru let out a small sigh as he turned down the street, making a beeline for the park. It was very quiet downtown, to Shikamaru's delight.
Arriving at the park, the genin expected it to be empty. Unfortunately, however, he did see some kid there. He had to be the most eager-looking person that Shikamaru had ever laid eyes on. He was wearing some bizarre green jumpsuit, and was training. This early. In the morning. Obviously, this kid was all kinds of crazy. Shikamaru stiffled a yawn, and couldn't help himself. This kid was just asking for someone to come around and make fun of him. While Shikamaru did it in a much more subtle way than most, the intent was clear... at least, to him. Most likely not to the green jumpsuit-wearing kid. "Do you know what time it is?" He asked, hoping that the kid didn't think he actually was wondering what time it was.
`` YOU WOULD THINK THAT JUST THIS ONCE, I COULD PULL THROUGH... ...nara shikamaru

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ”1998…1999…2000!”
Lee finished up the final pushup before using the momentum to push himself back up into a standing position. His face was sweating hard, giving his hair an even shinier shine than normal. Nothing felt better than a good exercise session. Besides, it meant he didn’t have to go up the stairs on his hands. Of course, he might end up doing that anyway; it was good exercise though. Right now, however, he had to take a bit of a rest. A worthwhile five minutes and he’d be ready to get moving again. Next up would be, hmm, maybe some laps up and down the stairs to work on his cardio.
Walking over to where he set up his stuff, Lee grabbed a bottle of water. Before he got the chance to drink, however, he heard noise. Gulping as he turned around, Lee spotted a kid in what basically amounted to grey clothes, black hair, and yawning. He must have been tired, but it wasn’t the tired after an exercise session. No, it was more of the “I just woke up,” kind of tired. Not many people could handle getting up as early as Lee did, and he knew that. Still, most people were up around this time, right? What time was it anyway?
The kid, however, was also lost on the time it seemed as he asked Lee what the time was. Not having a watch, and no other source of time available, Lee had to rely on the world’s clock; the sun.
”Just give me one second.” Lee replied enthusiastically as he looked right up at the sky. It was rather cloudy though; it was hard to get an exact look at the sun. On the bright side, he wouldn’t go blind with the covering of the clouds. Eventually the clouds moved to a point that he could see the sun, and he calculated it had to be early morning, maybe eight o’clock or so.
With that, Lee turned his attention back to the kid, and read off his report with the full level of enthusiasm as he gave everything else.
”I would have to say the time is around eight in the morning or so. The clouds made it hard to read, but they provide good shade so it balances out.”
Satisfied that he had given a good answer, and more, Lee knew it was time to get back to work. He was a little sad that he did not get the chance to eat the breakfast he had planned on eating in the five minutes that he had spent talking to the kid, but he had a strict schedule to keep up. If he deviated from it, his entire day would be thrown off, and he could not fit all the training he wanted to do. He was banned from late night training exercises for a month due to that incident with the village wall, so every moment counted.
Working alone, however, was, well, lonely. Since his team had not yet arrived, Lee only had this kid to be a work partner. Hmm, the kid needed some perking up, and he was just the guy to help him. No one had more pep than him, except Gai-sensei. That, however, was a rather close contest there, to the point most didn’t know there was a difference. Lee, however, knew there was, and his goal was to match Gai-sensei’s youth 100%.
”Excuse me, but as I do not have a training partner at the moment, do you wish to train besides me? It would help wake you up.” Lee politely asked the kid…till he realized that he did not introduce himself.
”By the way, my name is Rock Lee. It is my pleasure to introduce myself to…” He left the opening in the sentence for the kid to finish with his own name. Lee was thrilled to find a partner for him to train with, if the kid agreed that is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^
