::Yamanaka Ino::
::CHARACTER OVERVIEW::
FACE CLAIM: Ino Yamanaka
AGE: 12
GENDER: Female
DATE OF BIRTH: September 23
RANK: Genin
VILLAGE: Konohagakure
::CHARACTER APPEAREANCE::
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Physically, Ino likes to keep in great shape with constant exercise and dieting. She is a slim girl, weighing in at about 84 lbs. One thing that she greatly enjoys teasing Sakura about is the fact she has ‘the better figure’. Unlike the cherry-haired girl, Ino has some feminine curve to her, greatly enhanced by the bandages she wears. Her arms and legs are thin and flexible, allowing her to use much more acrobatic and agile taijutsu than the usual ninja. Furthermore, Ino keeps her skin smooth and clear as possible through her efforts. Height wise, Ino comes in at about 5ft, keeping her at just about the same height as Sakura. This annoys Ino to some degree, so she keeps her hair styled in a way to make seem taller then her rival. On the bright side, she doesn’t have a big forehead like Billboard Brow.
One thing that stands out about Ino is her hair and eye color. Ino’s hair is a very light blonde while her eyes are a bluish-green color, leaning more towards the blue in most light. Going off a rumor she heard about Sasuke liking long-haired girls, Ino has grown her hair long. It reaches down to just past her waist, almost touching her legs. It is wrapped up in a pony-tail, though she keeps one large strand of it in front of her hair. This one strand goes down to her neck. She keeps her eyebrows thin and clean, with maybe a slight hint of makeup to enhance the effect of her eyelashes sometimes. Also through her efforts, her hair is usually very clean and silky.
CLOTHING DESCRIPTION:
Just like her physical state, Ino does her best to use her clothes to emphasize her looks in order to draw Sasuke’s attention. She wears a dark-purple colored shirt that reaches down to her stomach; if it wasn’t for the bandages she wears it would be a midriff revealing shirt. The shirt also has a large neck collar with it that has an extension to it that goes down on her shirt. Three metal rings are attached to it for no known reason. The shirt has absolutely no sleeves, revealing her shoulders as well. However, she also has two arm warmers that are white with purple borders.
Like her shirt, Ino wears a dark-purple skirt that covers both the front and back. Underneath it are black shorts, but covering that are more bandages that cover the entire top part of her legs. The skirt is kept up with a belt, but she also keeps her headband around her waist. Part of that reason, however, is due to her wanting to use it to emphasize her waist some. She also keeps her tool pouch side on that part. Around her right leg she keeps a kunai pouch, although she uses a cloth strip instead of bandages to hold it up (does she really need more bandages?).
Minor accessories she has include her shoes, which are oddly enough closed-toed shinobi sandals. She also has a pair of earrings
::CHARACTER DETAIL::
FAMILY AND FRIENDS:
Inoichi Yamanaka (Father)
Asuma Sarutobi (Sensei)
Shikamaru Nara (Teammate)
Choji Akimichi (Teammate)
Sakura Haruno (Rival)
Sasuke Uchiha (One-true-love)
PERSONALITY:
Ino is one of the most superficial girls, or person for that matter, in the village. She is constantly concerned about how she looks and how she carries herself. Dieting and exercise are a constant concern for her, as well as hygiene. Sometimes this reaches obsessive levels, which can be an annoyance for those around her. All of this, of course, leads to one important goal; impressing Sasuke-kun. Ino is determined to win over the heart of Sasuke Uchiha, and hopes to do so with a mix of her feminine appeal and shinobi skills. One advantage of all this; she stays in good shape, and her love of being in the spotlight has made her very good at ‘gossiping’ and information collecting. She’s also pretty decent at telling body language.
Of course, though she is superficial, Ino isn’t dumb. In fact, she had the highest overall grade in the Academy (only because Sasuke failed miserably in cooperation, for example). She is also capable of taking advantage of her surroundings in ways to use her clan jutsu, normally a spying technique, for combat purposes. Furthermore, she has gained a lot of skill in being able to tell a lot about a person from the way they look (as well as body language, as mentioned earlier). Overall, Ino defies the ‘blonde ditz’ stereotype, even if occasionally indulging in.
Ino has a lot of self-confidence and rarely shows any actual paranoia about her image. Ino is a very cheerful (if self-centered) girl, and will almost never back down from a challenge or a fight. Her tongue is rarely held back, and if asked (or not), she will speak her mind. Still, she usually is not spiteful when she does so, but actually has some level of care in it. Except towards Sakura Haruno, but there are reasons for that. Towards her teammates, Ino shows some actual concern, though this is usually shown by her yelling at them and/or trying to control them so they don’t do something stupid. When she doesn’t get her way, she keeps pressing on till she does, and she knows every trick in the book to do it; anger, appeal to various things (morality, logic, emotion, etc.), guilt-trips, and occasionally compromise if needed.
As mentioned, Ino does not get along well with Sakura Haruno. Former friends turned rivals for Sasuke, the two are incapable of being in the same room together without fighting. Everything is turned into a contest, and at the moment Ino considers herself better than Sakura. With that, she tends to look down on Sakura, though at least acknowledges the girl has potential and is a little smarter than her, theoretically of course. Sakura might be able to calculate how fast to throw a kunai, but Ino can actually throw one (or at least that is how Ino views it). “Billboard-brow” is one of Ino’s favorite insults, though is equally angered when Sakura responds with “Ino-pig.” Deep down Ino is still friends with Sakura, but as long as Sasuke is at stake, she’s not afraid to get down and dirty with the cherry-blossom.
HISTORY:
A child of the Yamanaka family, Ino has always been a rather confident, if a little bratty, girl. Her father’s only child, she absolutely loved the attention that she received for it. Many a day was spent inside the family flower shop, and while she was too young to help with any of the manual labor, she absorbed plenty of information on all the various flowers and plants within. Not only was this good for a hobby but, as her father pointed out, many flowers were great for poisons and antidotes for a shinobi. He should know of course; he was part of the famous Ino-Shika-Cho trio of shinobi. Inspired by her father’s example, Ino hoped to become a ninja herself.
Eventually Ino was enrolled in the Academy, where she took her class by storm. Like all female ninja, they were given special training in flower arrangement and all the other ‘feminine’ arts. Ino, of course, had a head-start in that department, and soon flew to the top of the student chart. Her grades, alongside her outgoing, confident personality, made her a rather popular girl amongst the class. Many people wanted to be her friend. Ino, however, had her eye on this one girl she noticed was off to herself everyday; Sakura Haruno. The girl was always getting picked on for her large forehead, and so the girl isolated herself from the rest. Ino, however, sensed there was some potential in her, and so came up with a plan.
One day, while the girl was yet again alone, Ino approached her and talked to her about the forehead issue. Ino handed over a ribbon to Sakura, telling that hiding the forehead was pointless and so she should use the ribbon to draw attention away from it. Telling the girl she had potential, but had yet to reach it, Ino took Sakura under her wing. Soon the two of them were best friends, with Ino standing up for Sakura whenever the need arose. One particular incident occurred when a group of girls was picking on Sakura. Ino threw some flowers in the girls’ mouths, telling them they were ‘poisonous.’ The girls ran off, but as Ino revealed to Sakura, only the roots were.
However, soon fate came to separate the two friends. Both of them found themselves liking the same guy; Sasuke Uchiha. The two tried to continue a friendship, but eventually the two of them had to end it. In order to compete for him fairly, they had to no longer be friends; they had to be rival. Soon the two of them were spurring each other on. Every meeting they had with each other ended with name calling, arguing, and fighting. Everything they did became a competition, all for the sake of “Sasuke-kun.” They even grew their hair out for him based on a rumor he liked long-haired girls.
Eventually graduation from the Academy came. Ino had the highest overall grade (Sasuke was a prodigy but made terrible grades in cooperation, bringing him down) in the class, but even on the final day was still battling with Sakura. The only moment of cooperation between them occurred to beat up Naruto for stealing Sasuke’s “first kiss.” Ino was greatly disappointed when Sasuke was teamed up with Sakura while she got stuck with Shikamaru and Choji. However, remembering the fame of the original Ino-Shika-Cho trio, she’s willing to give them a shot. As long, of course, as they follow her rules about it.

CHAKRA NATURE
JUTSU:
~Chakra Hair Trap Technique :: After cutting her hair, Ino infuses the hair strands with her chakra to trap anyone that steps on them. Once immobilized, they are an easy target for another attack, or her Mind Body Switch Technique.
~Mind Body Switch Technique [Shintenshin no Jutsu] :: This technique allows the user to enter the mind of another person or even an animal.[2] The user transfers their consciousness to the opponent, giving them complete control of the body for a short period of time. Their original body is left defenseless while this jutsu is active, leaving it susceptible to attack until they return. The mind transfer is slow-moving, moves in a straight direction, and takes some time to return to the user's body if it misses. Because of these reasons it should only be used on immobilized targets. Similarly, if the opponent's will is strong enough, they can force the user from their body, as Sakura Haruno does to Ino Yamanaka. Lastly, should any physical injury befall the victim's body while the mind-link is active, it would cause the user's body to also receive those same injuries. For example, should the victim's arm be detached, the user's arm would be detached as well, leading to the conclusion that, should the victim die, the user would also die.
~ Shadowing Stealth Technique [Bikou Ninjutsu] :: Bikou Ninjutsu is the technique ninjas use to follow their targets covertly. The manner in which the ninja shadows their target can differ, from the basic hiding under a nearby object, to using a jutsu to turn oneself invisible.
~ Clone Skill [Bunshin no Jutsu] :: Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance. The copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent. As soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse.
~ Transformation Technique [Henge no Jutsu] :: Henge no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents.
~ Art of Substitution [Kawarimi no Jutsu] :: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.
~ Release [Kai] :: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell.

Ino let out a huff as she flipped through her magazine for what felt like the twentieth time that morning. Like every other day she worked there, she had gotten there early in the morning to water the plants and all the other care that plants needed to grow and be healthy. That kept her busy for awhile, but eventually she was finished, and she took up her spot behind the counter. As usual, she had been reading her magazines, but they were old, and just about every article in their she had already read and just about memorized. She needed something to do, and she needed it fast before she died of boredom.
Her eyes glanced over an article about color matching, something she really didn’t need to study up on (fashion was her specialty afterall). Seeing as there was no point in looking at the magazine anymore, she simply tossed it aside and cradled her head in her hands. She kept an eye on the clock, waiting ever so impatiently for her break, and the door in the hopes that someone would come running in needing flowers…or with the latest piece of juicy gossip. The fountain of information had been dry lately, with only the return of Naruto being the only thing of any major interest. But since she had already ran into him and chatted, it wasn’t anything that new to talk about.
The only thing she could think of that would be of any interest is her friend Sakura and Naruto. She had, obviously, been rather glad to have Naruto back, even if she acted as if she didn’t. Sakura may act tough and abrasive on the outside, but Ino, as her best friend after all, knew that deep down Sakura could be just as gossipy and boy crazy as her. She had noticed the way Sakura talked about Naruto. That big forehead of hers made spotting a blushing face an easy task, and adding in her natural propensity to seek gossip, Ino assumed that the pink-haired girl held some sort of opinion on the blonde haired boy that was embarrassing, and most likely it was a crush.
At first glance the match seemed odd; the loud, obnoxious prankster and the serious, if temperamental, assistant to the Hokage. If one dug deeper, however, it looked like a possibility. They were teammates, which alone was enough to create a deep bond between people, even if it wasn’t romantic. Throw in them both having a rather a stubborn and rather determined personality, and there was some chemistry. Opposites attract may be a rule of thumb for the amateur gossiper, but a pro like herself knows that similar personalities get along much better. Besides, the two of them would look so cute together, even if pink and orange together looked like some rather bad neon lights sign.
Of course, there was something that stood in this possible pairing; Sasuke. Ino may have seen the possible parts of Sakura and Naruto together, but she knew that Sakura still had feelings for the Uchiha boy. She still longed for the day that the boy returned to the village, and Ino was right behind her in that longing. Sure, she no longer would glomp and smother him like she did in her youth, but she still felt an attraction of sorts toward the boy she once knew. That may be why she was pushing for Naruto and Sakura; she’d have less competition for Sasuke that way.
She shook her head to get rid of that thought. It wasn’t like when Sakura and her were younger. They weren’t rivals competing for the same boy. There was no need for evil sneaking and planning. If she was going to get Naruto and Sakura together, it was because Sakura wanted that to happen and not because Ino could get Sasuke…if he ever returned.
A glance at the clock showed her that it was finally break time, and all the thoughts of the Naruto-Sakura-Sasuke love triangle flew from her mind. Freed from the restraints of the counter, she could make a dash for a book store and pick up fresh, new magazines to read, analyze, and absorb their infinite knowledge of boys and fashion. And maybe pick up a salad or something for a quick lunch. She may be dieting, but she wasn’t going to starve herself after all.
