PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Shikamaru stands just shy of five feet and ten inches and weighs about ninty-four pounds. He doesn’t look like he as much for muscles about himself seeing how he likes to stay out of physical fights. Despite his look he does have some strength about him. He doesn’t have a lot of weight about him at face glance, but he does have a healthy appearance for someone his age.

His face is narrow and usually holds a bored expression on his face. His chin in narrow, but slightly rounded. He has shoulder length hair that he wears up in a ponytail. The hair in the ponytail stands up and as a spikey look about it. His eye color matches his black hair and narrow eyebrows. His ears always seem to be popping out of the side of his head that have earrings in either one of them.

CLOTHING DESCRIPTION:

Shikamaru wears a fishnet undershirt that goes under his knee high pants and cut off just before his collar bone. The sleeve of the fishnet shirt goes to just under his shoulder and it had black trim on all the ends. He wears a short green jacket that as the Nara symbol on either sleeve. The trim around the ends of the jacket is even lighter green. The Nara symbol is just a black circle with dash cutting of either side. His blue head band is attached to his left shoulder sleeve. He wears black knee high pants and his light brown pouch on his left hip in behind him. His skuriken hostler is on his right leg. And he wears dark blue shinobo sandals.

PERSONALITY:

Shikamaru seems like the type that is whining, unenthusiastic, rarely cheerful, and laid back. He doesn’t like to draw attention to himself and finds it troublesome when he does get attention. When he is given a choice between working or unproductive duties, he would pick the former of the two without some sort of intense motivation.

Despite his attitude towards work in general, Shikamaru would put everything aside when it comes to defending his friends and the people that he cares about the most. He does have a sense of loyalty about him that makes up for his laziness when it comes down to protecting people. He knows when he needs to step it up, but does find it harder to do than just laying about watching the clouds in the sky.

He likes to spend his time taking naps and playing board games that usually old men would enjoy to do. His favorite spot to go and take naps is on top of a building that has a bench on it so he can watch the clouds pass him by. He usually is sitting up there with his best friend Choji. Even though he himself calls himself a slacker he knows he is pretty smart and uses that in battle when he as to. He rarely uses when he doesn’t have to besides playing board games. Shikamaru thinks ahead in a fight, but when he doesn’t see himself being the clear winning after calculating results in his head he deems it unfit to carry on.

Shikamaru as picked up his father’s views on woman. He thinks that men should be the one protecting ladies instead of the other way around. He often sees some woman as worse as his mother when it comes to being scary during a fight or at their outright intelligence. He doesn’t care to fight with the opposite sex either finding it troublesome. He does wish to settle down with a girl that is not too ugly or pretty and have two children and retire after his daughter is married and his son is a successful shinobi.

Choji by all standards is Shikamaru’s best friend and has known him since before they started at the academy. He tends to see the best in his friend and knows what he is capable of doing. He also believes in his friend more so than Choji believes in himself. One thing Shikamaru would hate to do is go up against Choji in a physical fight because he does believe that he would lose in it. Yamanda Ino is one the few girls that Shikamaru respects, but is also afraid of. He knows that Ino is capable of beating him to a pulp with his remarks. He doesn’t hold back on his remarks towards her at all. As for Asuma he looks up to and likes the fact that he can defeat him in board games.

HISTORY:

Nara Shikamaru was born on September 22^nd to Nara Shikaku and Nara Yoshino. When he was born his father was a Jounin of the Hidden Leaf at the time of his birth and his mother was a Chuunin. He grew up in a household where his mother was in charge, but that never stopped the young boy to get his father’s attitude about work and being lazy. Shikamaru always found himself watching the other children his age play ninja in the area, but he never could bring himself to really join in. When he did join in he would simple go to his favorite spot and lay down.

One day when Shikamaru was going to play ninja with a group of kids he watched the other team tell a boy that he was not allow to play because he was slow. This didn’t sit right with Shikamaru because this made the teams uneven, but the leader of the team shot him down telling him even in Shoji a pawn is no good if it was weak. He watched the kid walk off and when he was about to turn around to catch up to them he watched the kid free a butterfly from a spider’s web. This was when he felt that the group didn’t need him after all. He slowly walked out without a word to them.

Shikamaru started to walk around the village some and started to head towards his favorite spot where he could watch the clouds pass him by. When heading there he saw a butterfly cross his path that made him stop and watch where it was going. He smiled slightly when it started to head towards the stairs. He slowly followed it and found Choji and his father. However, that didn’t stop him from asking Choji if he could sit down and watch the clouds. After a moment he was granted his wish and he sat down. From that moment on Shikamaru knew that he had found his best friend.

When they started the Ninja Academy, Shikamaru found that most of his time in class was taken up by lectures and exams. He was never keen on passing the exams or listening to lectures. His excuse was if he needed a lecture he would just go bug his mother until she gave him one. Shikamaru was always one of the kids that were at the bottom of the class because during tests he was sleeping. He never once answered a question on the test. During practically exams, however, Shikamaru was always between passing and failing.

During their last year at the academy was when his mother came down hard on him about school. She was always focusing him to practices the basic ninja techniques until he was sore. He found that he liked being away from the house and hanging out with his father more and more when his mother was yelling at him about passing the academy. She always reminded him that he had the Nara name to live up to. His father on the other hand didn’t seem to care if he passed or fail as long as he did his best. His father was his inspiration into actually working hard during the exams that ninjutsu was required. He didn’t get all passing grades, but when it came to the final exam to gain his leaf headband he was passed without missing a beat. The next day he found out that he would be on the same team as his best friend and the loudest and noisiest girl of their year Yamanaka Ino. He was slightly annoyed by this, but didn’t really comment on it.

Kagemane no Jutsu : Shadow Imitation Technique :: The Shadow Imitation Technique allows the user to extend their shadow for as far as it has sufficient area. Once it comes into contact with a target's shadow, the two merge and the target is forced to imitate the user's movements.

Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu : Shadow Neck Bind Technique :: After capturing an opponent with the Shadow Imitation Technique, the user can then further extend their shadow up to the target's throat in the shape of a hand, which chokes them to death.

JUTSU:

Kawarimi No Jutsu: Body Replacement Technique :: This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, or even another person within reach.

Bushin no Jutsu: Clone Technique :: This technique creates intangible copies of the user. The clones are simply illusions and will dissipate when they come into contact with something.

Henge no Jutsu: Transformation Technique ::This jutsu allows the user to transform either themselves or another object into the appearance of another person, animal, or object.

Shunshin no Jutsu : Body Flicker Technique :: This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed.

Nawanuke no Jutsu: Rope Escape Technique :: A basic jutsu taught at the Konoha Ninja Academy, this jutsu allows a ninja to free themselves if they have been tied up.

Kai: Genjutsu Release :: This technique releases the user from a genjutsu spell by stopping the flow of chakra in their body, and then applying an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the caster's chakra. This can also be done by an unaffected ninja by applying a sudden surge of chakra into the affected person.

It was one of the odd days where the clouds above were dark as the night before and Shikamaru was still staring up at them. He sighed slightly as he closed his eyes some because this was not how he wanted to spend his day trying to dodge the rain that was due to come. He slowly pushed himself up and glanced around the area of the street that was visible to him at the moment. Even the streets sides down below told the story that rain was coming any moment. He saw people already looking up over their shoulders to make sure they were not going to get caught outside in the downpour.

He slowly placed his palm to his forehead and grinned some. He knew he better head home himself before the rain hit, but he didn’t think he could get up. Even the clouds has they were now was telling a story that everyone was going to miss out on. He looked up with his eye that was uncovered and stared over the village as the clouds overhead. There was nothing denying that it was going to rain and he could smell it in the air.

He slowly pushed himself to standing up and moved closer to the edge of the building he was on. He leaned his elbows on the railing and looked down at the streets below. He saw most of the merchants trying to get the last minutes sales of people walking by, but they didn’t seem interested. ”Only when the sky is as dark as the night do they always seem in a rush…”
