Frozen Training (ice clone training thread)

Haku sat on the edge of the sea deep in thought. It was a secluded spot and one that he had found on his search for strife in the country. He was reviewing information and deciding how best to create what he want to do today. He was not sure if any one else the way he did or used ice at all for that matter. The best they could would more then likely, be modified Water jutsu and even that would not be exactly right. Did anyone use a true Ice jutsu he sometimes wondered, if they did he never heard of them. He had heard rumors of a snow village but he was not sure where exactly it was. Haku decided that he would have to find out if the present mission aka assassination went as planned.

What his goal for today was to perfect a way to make an ice clone without the target knowing that it was made of ice. That was easier said then done, as he knew well. It usually took weeks or some times months of effort to get jutsu to do what you want usually and to batten out the side effects. Some effect could be dangerous and to unleash an untested jutsu would be a double-edged sword at best and complete danger at worst. Haku was not foolhardy enough to try that, There was frankly too much at stake. Therefore, he tested and worked out the bugs before using something.

The first thing he would try was to freeze a water clone and see what happened. To do this he would need such a clone. To create one he used the Water Clone Jutsu that Zabuza taught him how to do summoning the water to make a mirror image of himself. Soon enough there was another copy of Haku sitting on the bank. This one clone was smiling serenely at the original. Haku turned to this clone focusing on a small part, in this case its left hand and for lack on a better word willed it to freeze. The air and water temperatures dropped around the pair and low and behold freeze it did, Solid. It literally turned into an ice statue in his for sitting on the bank. It did not appear to be able to move at all.

Apparently, he had over done it in that attempt and had caused the entire thing to be useless from a spying standpoint. He had only meant to freeze the clone’s hand and not the clone itself. However, it was an interesting thing to note. If one of his or Zabuza water clones got a hold of someone, he could potentially freeze it solid and immobilize them. It would make them easier to keep for question if that became necessary or make a better shot for Zabuza if the prey proved too fast for them alone. So he filled his mistake away for future reference should it come in handy as he released the water clone to start again. You never know what might save your life or help you win the fight for survival even your own stupid mistakes if used well could assist you.

Nevertheless, you could not rely on stupid mistakes to save your hide because they could doom you as well. Haku summoned another water clone to try the process again hopefully with better results this time. A little lighter on the killing cold and more on the frost and snow side of things, more moisture, and hover just above true freezing with this one. He once again willed a clone to freeze; this one seemed to frost over slightly as if it had been standing in a snowstorm. He directed it to stand up and walk around for a bit. It did as it was directed but the frosted look to it did not dissipate. In addition, it was stiff and heavier in its walk. Haku stood up and walked to it senbon in hand he slashed it across the throat and it exploded into a puff of powdery snow with small chunks of ice mix in. It was still not right but he was getting in the right direction this one could walk around. If with some difficulty and a definite change in appearance anyway.

Haku knelt down anbd scooped a portion of the snow that had been the modified water clone and held it in his hand. He examined it closely to see what it was made of, it had turned into snow with ice mixed into it. It was almost what he wanted but not quite there,yet. He would try a different tack this time not turning the clone into snow but cool the air down enough that the water within would freeze hopefully. He would have to be careful though not to cuase it to snow by accident. Once again repeating the clone tectique this time make two clones instead of one at a time. He was getting tired he would have to stop some time fairly soon. He sent the second of the two clones into the trees well out of the range of his frosted area. After all he both wanted some one else to watch and to keep that clone for his next experiment.
