::Hyuuga Hinata::
::CHARACTER OVERVIEW::
FACE CLAIM: Hinata
AGE: 12
GENDER: Female
DATE OF BIRTH: December 27
RANK: Genin
VILLAGE: Konohagakure
::CHARACTER APPEAREANCE::
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
To put it simple, Hinata is small and in no way whatsoever intimidating. Her height comes in at just underneath five feet, and she weighs about eighty-four pounds or so. Her lightweight build matches perfectly with her timid personality, giving Hinata a rather fragile appearance (though one shouldn't underestimate her due to this). In return for lacking physical strength, however, Hinata's body is highly flexible, giving her a very wide range of movement for her limbs. This is a very helpful trait considering her use of the Gentle Fist style. On the verge of puberty, Hinata already has a bit of a head start compared to some of the girls. Her bust is rather generous for a girl her age (even if it's hidden underneath all those layers of clothing), and her hips are a bit on the wide side as well.
Hinata's face continues the fragile trend her body can perceive. Her face is rather soft-pointed, and her cheeks seem to always have some slight blushing on it (especially around Naruto). Her eyes are a light lavender and look as if they do not have pupils, a trait common in Hyuuga clan members. When the Byakugan is activated, however, the veins around them pop out and become visible. Also, a pupil is visible at that time. The rest of her face is covered or framed by her hair. Unlike most ninja, Hinata wears her headband around her neck like a necklace instead of on her head.
Hinata's hair is a dark-blue color, and has a rather tomboyish look to it. Unlike many of the other girls of her class, she didn't grow it out. Instead, she kept it rather short, going down to only her neck. The back of her hair goes out in a bit of a point. Her bangs are a little on the long side, reaching down past her forehead and stopping at right above her eyebrows. The sides of her face are framed by two longer strains of hair that reach down past her face and just reaches the top of her headband.
CLOTHING DESCRIPTION:
Hinata's clothing style is rather tomboyish. Instead of dresses and skirts like Sakura and Ino, Hinata wears pants. These pants are a dark-blue color and reach to just above her ankles. On her right leg a kunai pouch is bandaged to the leg for easy access. For shoes, she prefers to wear the open toed and dark blue shinobi sandals.
The most distinctive clothing item for Hinata is her jacket. It is tan in color, but on the bottom edge there is a large, fluffy white ring. The jacket itself zips up in the front, and the hood has two strings coming out of it that can be used to loosen or tighten it. On each shoulder there is Hinata's personal symbol, which is a yellow oval with a red symbol that is shaped like a flame of sorts.
When she’s training, Hinata lessens the amount of clothing she is wearing. Instead of the jacket, she wears a dark-purple jumpsuit. Underneath that is a fishnet-shirt combination with a green border. With this she is able to bend easier and move much faster, but her shy personality prevents her from wearing this anywhere but outside of training by herself. When she isn’t, it’s covered up by her jacket.

PERSONALITY:
Timidity is probably Hinata’s most defining trait. She is a rather shy person, usually sinking into the background and being very quiet. Her habits give it away, as she is known to play with her fingers and looking down at the ground when she is nervous and shy. It has also made her a very kind and considerate person, and she is unwilling to see other people get hurt in front of her. This has also made her a bit of a pacifist, and in general she does not like to fight or argue with others. She’s also not a very competitive person, and truly wishes to help other people get along with each other. All of this has also made her a very cautious person. This is helpful in a battle as it allows her to think clearly in a tough situation instead of letting emotions take her over.
Part of that timidity, however, comes from her self-confidence issues. Her father has condemned her for being inferior and weak. His disapproval of her has left her scarred, making her consider herself inferior as well. No matter how hard she trains, it seems, when the time comes for missions she can’t stop making mistakes. Her hardships and confidence issues have given her the insight to understand people who have suffered great pain in their lives. For a long time it seemed she would suffer a self-fulfilling prophecy considering her ‘inferiority’, but all that changed when she met one person; Naruto Uzumaki.
Naruto has a very special place in Hinata’s heart. Her hardships allowed her to be one of the first to understand how painful Naruto’s childhood was. Instead of sulking about it and become depressed, however, Naruto continued to laugh and push himself hard. This greatly inspired Hinata to do the same, and in the process endeared the blonde-headed boy to her heat. By this point it has evolved into full fledged love, though she has yet to say so to him. Her timid personality has made it almost impossible for her to be articulate around him, and she is even shyer around him than normal. She goes to great lengths to help him out, however, and she feels she is willing to do whatever it takes to help him.
When it comes to her teammates, Hinata has a rather good relationship. Due to her self-confidence issues, her teammates tend to try and prop her up. She is very appreciative of their attempts to help her, and so in return does her best to help them. Whether it's bringing lunch or something, she tries her best. As for their sensei Kurenai, Hinata wants to be like her. She considers the Jounin to a role model of sorts, and respects her for her strength.
When it comes to the politics of the Hyuuga family, Hinata is rather unsure. She understands she isn't well-favored, and that there is in fact a preference for her sister Hanabi and admiration for her cousin Neji. Hinata, however, has no ill will towards either of them. She's proud of her sister for being so strong, and feels pity for Neji because of his situation. She's still unsure of the entire thing, however, due to her not knowing the entire situation. She does know, however, that Neji has not had an easy life, and therefore sees no reason to reciprocate the hatred he has for the Main Branch.
HISTORY:
Hinata was born to the leader of the Hyuuga clan, Hiashi Hyuuga. Even as a child Hinata was rather shy. Her father, however, considered such a personality un-befitting the heir to the Hyuuga clan Main Branch, and decided to force it out of her. Even at her young age, her father would put her through grueling training, hoping that doing so would toughen her up. This plan, however, failed, as Hinata was barely able to keep up with the training he implemented. Before she was of Academy age, her father had already begun to believe that Hinata was unworthy to be the successor to the Hyuuga Main Branch.
When she was three, Hinata was exposed to the important distinction between the Main and Side Branches; the seal. She stood by and watched as her cousin Neji received the seal that all Side Branch members were given. It's purpose was to protect the secrets of the Byakugan in case they died, or at least that was what Hinata was told. Because of this, she didn't really understand why the members of the Side Branch hated it so much.
One night, however, an attempt was made to kidnap Hinata. The Leaf Village had recently signed a treaty of peace with the Land of Lightning. A head ninja from Hidden Cloud, however, attempted to use the treaty signing as an opening to kidnap Hinata. The shinobi attempted to break into the Hyuuga Compound to kidnap her, but was killed by Hiashi. The resulting political fallout, combined with inter-family politics, lead to the death of Hiashi’s twin brother and Hinata’s uncle, Hizashi Hyuuga. Because of this incident, Hinata’s cousin Neji holds a grudge against her and the Main Branch. Hinata, however, remains in the dark of it. All she knows is her uncle was killed during a training accident between him and her father, with her and Neji watching.
Eventually Hinata entered the Academy, where she maintained average grades. For the Hyuuga, however, this was unacceptable, and she was greatly pressured to do much better. Hinata, however, never lived up to these expectations, and so became a major source of shame for Hiashi. It was during this time, however, Hinata met someone who became a source of happiness; Naruto Uzumaki. Sure, he was a troublemaker, despised by just about everybody but her and their sensei Iruka. Hinata could sympathize with Naruto’s situation, of feeling alone in a world that didn’t want you. Unlike her, however, Naruto fought back, and no matter what happened, had a smile on his face and remained defiant, always wanting to improve herself. By the time graduation came, Naruto had become not only Hinata’s role model, but her crush as well.
When the teams were decided on, Hinata was disappointed that she didn’t get on the same team as Naruto. She was, however, glad that he got on the team with his own crush, Sakura Haruno. As for her own team, she was placed under the care of Yuhi Kurenai, with Kiba Inuzuka and Shino Aburame as her teammates. Apparently their skills were great for tracking, which was to be a big focus of their training. While Hinata doesn’t know much about her sensei, she already has great respect for her as what little she knows about her presents her as a strong, courageous woman.
Her father, however, had given up on her at that point. He entrusted Kurenai with Hinata’s care, not really caring if she died or not on a mission. Instead, he decided to focus on training her younger sister Hanabi. Hinata, however, overheard the conversation, damaging an already fragile self-confidence. She still struggles to this day to overcome this outright rejection by her father. There is no ill will, however, between Hinata and Hanabi.
When it comes to Neji, however, Hinata is not as sure of herself. Not understanding the entire situation, she doesn't understand exactly why he hates the Main Branch so much. At the same time, she knows the Side Branch does not have an easy life at times, and so she does express some sincere pity for Neji's situation. At times, however, Neji's speeches about 'the impossibility of fighting against destiny' resonates with her due to her own failures.
::JUTSU AND WEAPONS::
WEAPONS:
KEKKAI GENKAI / CLAN JUTSU:
~Byakugan [Byakugan] :: Byakugan is the blood inheritance limit of the Hyuuga Clan. The Hyuuga clan was one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the tenketsu; the internal chakra coils system 361 pressure points. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings, the higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blind spot that extends outwards from the vertebra of the upper back.
The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. The clan member can use their fingers or palms to emit chakra to flow into their opponents body's at the tenketsu points. When the hand draws close enough to strike, the clan member can stop or increase their opponent’s chakra flow. The internal chakra coils which spread throughout the body also wrap around the internal chakra producing organs. So if the internal coils are attacked, it also damages these internal organs. Because a ninja can not train their internal body, such damage can be a critical hit for even a highly skilled ninja. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu.
~Gentle Fist [Juken] :: The Gentle Fist style of combat is based on palm strikes and generally aims to damage the body's Chakra Pathway System, thus creating difficulty by inhibiting an opponent's use of chakra. To do this, the user will forcefully insert a small amount of their own chakra into an opponent's chakra pathway system. The chakra can the be used to rupture or divert chakra flow, preventing them from using jutsu. It can also be used to attack the opponent's internal organs, to which the chakra pathway system is closely tied. Even the slightest tap from this style can cause major damage, hence the name "gentle fist." Because the chakra pathway system is invisible, the Byakugan is required for this style to be used effectively. Since the Byakugan is unique to the Hyuuga clan, it has become their signature style of combat.
CHAKRA NATURE
JUTSU:
~ Shadowing Stealth Technique [Bikou Ninjutsu] :: Bikou Ninjutsu is the technique ninjas use to follow their targets covertly. The manner in which the ninja shadows their target can differ, from the basic hiding under a nearby object, to using a jutsu to turn oneself invisible.
~ Clone Skill [Bunshin no Jutsu] :: Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance. The copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent. As soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse.
~ Transformation Technique [Henge no Jutsu] :: Henge no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents.
~ Art of Substitution [Kawarimi no Jutsu] :: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themselves with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.
~ Release [Kai] :: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell.
~ Act of Water Surface Walking [Suimen Hokou no Waza] :: A variation on the Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing), the art of water surface walking allows a ninja to walk on water as if it was a solid surface. Focusing an even amount of chakra out of the soles of their feet, they can balance themselves on the very surface of the water.

RP SAMPLE: From my Hinata profile on Yuuretsu Chronicles
“Hyai. Hyai. Hyai…” a small, weak, but determined voice let out, followed by a small thud.
Hinata was panting rather hard, her arms going full force towards the training log as she worked to practice her skills. She had been going at it for at least an hour, and her hands were getting rather raw and sore. The log itself wasn’t in much better condition, riddled with chips and dents from the constant striking. But within the last few moments they were starting to weaken as fatigue and pain started to settle in. After one last half-hearted strike, Hinata decided that it was about time to take a break and catch her breath before moving on wards to training with her chakra.
Finding a nice spot by a tree, she collapsed against it and sat down on the ground. Her chest rose and fell with her deep breaths as she worked to have her lungs catch up with her. It took a few minutes before her breathing and heart rate returned to a calmer pace, and she was able to focus on something else. Reaching over to the side, she picked up a quick little lunch she had made earlier that morning so she could spend all day training today. As a special treat, she added in a special little bowl of zenzai as a bit of a dessert. Keeping herself restrained, however, she saved it for last and ate the rest of the meal.
As she enjoyed her lunch, however, her mind was on much more important things than one of her favorite foods. She had heard that Naruto had returned to the village, and the very thought of it was enough to have her face turn shade of red that perfectly matched the dessert she was enjoying. It had been a little over two years since he left, and even with him gone she still saw him as an inspiration. His determination drove her on, hoping that one day she would be strong enough to catch his interest, and hopefully be able to talk to him in return.
Talking to him, what was she thinking! It had been over two years since she last saw him after all. What could she say to him whenever she finally ran into him? More importantly, could she say anything to him all? Two years ago she could barely say anything to him, and fainting at the mere sight of him wasn’t out of the question either. In fact, apparently doing just that was the last thing she did when she last saw him. She shivered at the thought. What a terrible impression to make of herself. If he still remembered that, would he even want to talk to her, someone who was so weak and timid they can’t even remain conscious around people?
Trying to distract herself from such depressing thoughts, she took another scoop of zenzai. The sweet porridge of azuki beans helped to lift her spirits up as she remembered the more positive times she had. She still remembered her match with Neji from her first Chuunin Exams, and how that day even Naruto cheered her on. That day she made a vow to never give up, and even when she was about to be killed she stood back up. Of course, now she wished that the courage she had that day would make a second appearance soon. If she wanted to be able to even let out a simple “Hello” to Naruto when she greeted his return to the village, she was going to need all the courage she could get.
