From: Sunagakure Council To: Genin Squad Selection Board CC: Kazekage, ANBU Selection Board
Subject: Suna Team 9: Specialized Combatives Squad
Due to increased border activity with Konohagakure within the last several months, including reports of recent genin selection, and pontential hostility with Oto no Kuni, it is deemed necessary to increase our genin complement for advanced training immediately. Assuming negotiations with Oto no Kuni proceed as scheduled, we require an additional four squads at minimum. If, however, negotiations do break down, we require a minimally obtrusive reconnaissance force to determine the nation's military capacity, obtain intelligence as to their intentions, and if necessarily, begin immediate clandestine operations without association to Sunagakure.
Sunagakure Team 9 General Layout:
It has been proposed from interrogations of Konohagakure ANBU forces on deep cover reconnaissance ops and our own hunter-nin instructors that specialized training should begin immediately during processing into a genin squad. As such, the Council S-Rank Training Task Force has determined a specialized genin squad coded Sunagakure Team 9 (from now on known as "Suna Team 9") will be selected as a prototype training group to further develop genin with advanced Choho and Intonjutsu techniques equivalent to minimum entry-level requirements for ANBU selection.
Based on recent sociological and operant conditioning studies, it has been determined traditional training methods are inadequate to further develop such selected genin. To avoid genin with previously developed tactical analysis in basic clandestine operations, it has been proposed to train three genin from the newly graduated academy class in traditional and chuunin-exam advanced coursework.
From these previous studies in genin conditioning, enhancements to the basic training regimen should include Boryaku, HUMINT, SIGINT, and Hensojutsu. Furthermore, it is proposed this group should be trained in Tenmon and Chi-mon (meteorology and geography, respectively), with a focus on navigation on foreign soil.
The training for such an operation would take place in undisclosed foreign soil, known only to the task force, and the jounin instructor selected for Suna Team 9. This is to eliminate intelligence leaks, and to further develop our future ANBU candidates with a wide variety of terrain.
Selection will begin immediately upon appointing the appropriate jounin instructor, preferably one with an ANBU background.

Well, although this is elaborate, I think I can provide a Jounin for this particular team. I can... kinda show you an app. She was originally as the Kazekage, but I'd probably drastically tone her down to fit a more Jounin-based level and keep the rest of the techniques for her to learn down-the-road. She's highly skilled in ambushing [with good reason], and uses a bow, to be basic. IF at all possible, for this it'd be preferrable if the students had chakra natures [if Ninjutsu users] other than Fuuton and Katon, but it's not necessary. As for her name... Miyunaji Reinja. So, let's see who else is up for this idea, hmm?

Sounds like a plan. Rai will be quite interested in picking up any weapon, HUMINT, or even more feminine social skills from such a jounin instructor. Rai is good to go as soon as a little Haku/Rai action is completed.
Actually, a funny little detail I was thinking of is having Suna Team 9 possibly train in Wave Country, or Konoha on an advanced scouting mission before the preparation for the chuunin exams. This might help serve to mix some social interaction with the canon and OC Konoha characters with a few other people in the RP.

Sounds like this could be fun. Thought these might be fun links to give our potential jounin sensei a few ideas: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JddVswCQ0xs&NR=1www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HqwzPsw5O4Something in particular that might be fun is to have Suna Team 9 use strictly weapons manufactured or crafted from foreign nations, such as explosive notes or kunai with unique tooling marks that specifically originate from non-shinobi or opposing hidden village nations. This particular strategy was used by SOG back in Viet Nam for deep cover operations in Cambodia, where even dog tags, and military insignia were removed before departing, to ensure if soldiers were captured, they were not associated with the United States.

I'll have to look at the videos later, since I'm a bit short on time at the current moment.
However, I've kinda got two ideas I can go with for a Jounin. The first one would, well, be fairly easy to get along with, but she's more of a soft-spoken woman and isn't really the let's-train-you-until-you-can't-move type in that respect, though she could be. Then there's my other Jounin who's basically a complete hardass about life in general. The second IS originally an Iwagakure jounin, but it's no trouble to convert her to Suna [Sachiko was originally Suna, so... xD]
There's also that new member who signed up for a Suna genin, so perhaps if you asked there, they could be put on the team? I mean, hate to kick Kashi or Haku out on this, but we don't wanna leave Hibiko without a team. xD I don't know about the tools thing for the simple fact that each of the members would probably have their own respective weapons they'd use. I mean, the first Jounin [originally Kazekage, Reinja] is a bow-user, but she can snipe people's asses from miles away with pinpoint accuracy due to her Kekkai Genkai.

Hey guys,
Made the suggestion last night to Hebiko, and she's looking forward to it. I was thinking, as I've done this in my Naruto fanfic, that we could have two instructors if we wanted to have a few more people on Team 9 (a specialized jounin for some specified counterinsurgency skill, and the ANBU jounin for general instruction and conditioning). However, it's up to you guys, as it would be fun either way.
Weapons users are always fun. With Rai's interest in the sea, you know there's going to be SEAL-type amphibious assaults and boats that I'll try to get involved if we can.
On a similar note, maybe a few more Amegakure breath masks might be required (as Rai is already equipped with a rebreather).
By all means, Kashi, go ahead and make a serious weapons user (could be quite amusing to pit him/her against Tenten). As you know, Rai is already self-proclaimed "chunkboy" for an op, and she would be willing to learn archery, or some other ranged weapon for distance strikes. You know there will be some massive underwater demolitions involved if Watanabe gets her way.
Mid, again, if we wanted to bend the rules for being an elite team, it could be fun to have a four genin cell, or a specialized jounin.
Basically, the more hardcore we can make this team, the better.
Oohrah!

Getting a full team would be great xD. And, if there was a four cell genin situation like Rai was talking about, it would make for more clashing options or for more character building depending on how things go. The only problem is building this team before they're all grown up (joking).

Just for amusement, I'll run this by the custom applications board, but I'm thinking of a special patch for Suna Team 9. I'll tinker with GIMP, try out a few ideas, see if anything stands out. For other matters, here's a rather helpful link that should help for character generation and ninja references: www.cart-white.co.uk/ninja/

I'd have to say no to there being four Genin in the cell for the simple fact that, well, they'd want to blend in, and having an oddly-numbered cell would just seem... strange.
Same goes with two instructors. It's not as if either of those Jounin aren't equipped for those, it's more or less whether I can see them in such a situation. Then again, Reinja's also the type to follow without asking questions, and with the state that Sunagakure is currently in it wouldn't surprise me, so I'm thinking I'm going to go with her for the Jounin.
As for stuff about the Amegakure masks... I doubt that's likely. They're in Sunagakure, after all, and same goes with the boats. You have to think, anything we do still has to be within the Narutoverse, so some of the things you're coming up with, Rai, may have to be altered greatly or even completely disregarded. I have a basic idea going on myself for what the Jounin instructor could do, and it's going to be... interesting, let's say. But because I'm cruel and like to keep people in the dark, I ain't telling what's gonna happen, 'cause, well, then it's just no fun, and it ruins the whole plot-part of it. It's along the lines of military-ish training, though.
It may be a while before I actually can roleplay as the Jounin, though, since if the bell test finishes I'll be taking Sakura [followed by Kin], and then I'll be able to pick up an OC. If the bell test doesn't finish, however, I'll be taking Kin, and then it'll be basically a race between how quickly I can get my Reinja app touched up and how fast the bell test finishes slash how long it takes me to get 10 posts with Kin. Regardless, that gives us a bit more time to plot and come up with mini-plots as well.

I've been thinking things over, and while I'm completely open to compromise, I don't want to sit and wait forever. I've been in too many bad RPGs that failed because no one wanted to do anything but stare at their monitors all day at random nonsense, or work on other projects they started after the fact.
So, I'm putting a deadline of 4/27 at midnight Mountain Time (next Monday night/Tuesday morning) for characters to get involved with ST9.

If you mean by involved as in, having the characters accepted... I don't think that's kinda fair for the simple fact that I've had Sakura AND Kin lined up for a while before this even came up. That's why I'm required to wait for a bit, and I've got Sakura up right now and almost finished, and Kin shouldn't take me too long, either.
Personally, I think your idea of saying it only on the cbox is a little off. Not all of us check the cbox, and really, it's bound to get buried in the messages. We aren't going to sit and wait forever, and your ultimatum just kind of makes me twitch. We don't need a damn deadline for this kind of stuff, and if this is how the team's going to end up working, with deadlines and crap, sorry, I'm pulling my support. I myself have other things that do take priority over these sorts of things, and they are things that need to get done, and that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Honestly, you putting an ultimatum on this kind of makes me [at least] feel as if I'm untrustworthy or something. Once again, if this is what it's going to be, I'm pulling my Jounin from the team. She'll host a different team under different circumstances.
