^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ”All right then, it is training time!” Lee said to himself excitedly as he raced out into the training field.
Today TenTen had promised to help him today with his training; it had been a long time since she had agreed on that. The last time they had worked alone, he had accidentally ripped apart the buns in her hair during an attempt to grab her. After getting made into a pincushion afterwards, TenTen refused to talk to him for a looooong time. Gai-sensei had criticized him for destroying the ‘group bonds’ because of his act. As punishment, he had to do laps around the village…on his hands.
However, the hair eventually grew back, TenTen mellowed out, and now she was ready to train with him again. Actually, it was even better than that; she was going to help train him in the use of weapons! He had already mastered the Iron Fist style; now he was going to master the use of whatever weapon TenTen wanted to bring him to use. With this new force at his disposal, Neji wouldn’t stand a chance. With his fast speed and strength and TenTen’s weapon skills and accuracy, Neji would finally loose! It would be a hard fight; it had to be. Winning an easy fight had no honor in it after all.
Looking up at the sky, he guessed that there was still going to be an hour or so till TenTen got here. One could never be too early after all. Besides, he wanted to get some training in before she arrived so he was fully pumped up and ready to go. But, he was so distracted by this thought of weapon training, he didn’t want to just do simple kicks and punches. There were no weapons around though except some shuriken and kunai, but he already knew how to use those. So then, he had to improvise.
”Now what could be used as a…ah ha!”
Spotting a rather straight branch, Lee rushed over and broke it apart. It was long, thing, sort of like a pole. That would work perfectly! He was a close-range fighter, so training in some longer-range combat would help balance out his skills. Now then, how did he use this again? Thinking back to how TenTen held it, Lee grabbed it firmly with both hands, one higher than the other. Taking a deep breath, he started repeating everything he had seen TenTen do with her own pole. Everything was going good till he tried to pull it up in a ‘defensive’ maneuver; he put a little too much force into it and smacked himself right in the middle of the face.
”Ow, ow, ow, ow” he started to repeat as he dropped the pole. Holding his face, he stood for a second to see if he got a nosebleed; he didn’t. Whew, that was good. The last thing he needed was breaking his ‘handsome’ face like that. Still, he would probably have a giant red mark right down his face, and it would be sore for a bit. Glancing down at the pole, he was tempted to try again, but held off. Maybe it would be better to wait for TenTen to get there to try…. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

Tenten wasn't even entirely sure why she'd agreed to such a... Considerably "volatile" request. No, it had nothing to do with her hating Lee - if she did, that was - but training with Lee was one thing... Him and Gai and their stupid rules, and their overenthusiastic ways. It was part of the reason she took careful time to train with Neji rather than with Lee, just so she could avoid having herself overworked and probably nearly killed as well... At least mentally. But regardless... Neji wasn't around, for some reason, and that she could deal with. There were just some days that he more or less "disappeared", in a sense, and she never spoke to him. It could be days, weeks; a month, at one point, even, but it was manageable. In reality, it didn't surprise her at all.
But now, because she didn't want to fall behind in her own training, she was put to the test of training with Lee. Perhaps it was a strange request, for Lee to wish to learn her weapons lore; she was a weapons mistress, as many said, though she was still a fairly unknown young Genin in that aspect. Not many people knew of the innate skill she had with accuracy and precision in her attacks, not to mention that she could launch a multitude of ranged weapons at a person with almost uncanny speed. She'd learned a lot of what she knew from her sensei, Gai - at least, the weapons sealing part - but other than that, it was simply pure natural skill and practice from a young age. She'd always been in to weapons, for the longest time, and there was no way she would ever be caught without at least one weapon hidden somewhere.
She already knew that she wouldn't have to worry about Lee being late for their little bout of training. Lee was always up early, training himself to be the best that he could, and even trying a few "stupid" things to teach himself. While Tenten herself commended his skill and his determination to do things... She thought some of the things he did were quite irrational and brazen, and could eventually get him into trouble, depending on the situation. Or, he'd just get himself hurt. One of the two. And then she'd have to lecture him on his actions, and all of it would just become a major stress on her already-stressed mind.
It was too bad she just couldn't be invisible to her green-clad teammate.
"Well, I should probably get going," she muttered to herself, releasing a long sigh. Since she was going to be acting as the teacher, she'd have to come up with what she was going to teach Lee... Perhaps they could start with polearms... No, possibly ranged weapons first. Yes, they would start with ranged weapons, weapons that could be used in conjunction with heavy Taijutsu. Taijutsu was, after all, Lee's speciality, and if he could learn to mix the two together, he could possibly create his own deadly form of style. Then, of course, they could move into the easier melee weapons, such as a pair of tonfa, or even bladed tonfa.
Perhaps she was going to be a bit early, but that wouldn't hurt things, now would it? Half an hour wasn't a bad thing, either... She just didn't want to have to wait it out, especially if Lee was already going to be there. It just meant she could get things over and done with faster, although she still didn't trust Lee ever so slightly compared to the last incident... Tearing out her hair. Now, Tenten wasn't one to complain about her hair, but when it got pulled out of her buns and fell like a curtain of water in front of her face, she did get a little irritated. She nearly envied Neji for his all-one-length ebony locks, and how he could keep it all neatly tied at the ends and out of his face. No, her, she had to have her hair layered, and bangs as well, which still got in her face on occasion. When they grew too long and she had no desire to trim them, she simply put them behind her headband and left it at that. Thankfully, however, they were not as such at the moment, which she could deal with.
Taking the route out her bedroom window rather than the front door, Tenten leaped across each of the rooftops, her feet landing lightly, as if she were a cat with padded paws. She moved quickly, nearly like a graceful animal, leaping from one place to another and running across rooftops as quietly as possible until she made her way to the training grounds. She already had her plans worked out rather well... She'd wait before she came in, lest she be caught off-guard by one of Lee's... Sporadic instances. As she came to the clearing they'd agreed to meet at, she noticed Lee was holding... A long branch? Tenten raised an eyebrow at that. It wasn't even perfectly balanced weight-wise; one end was heavier than the other, and the sheer length of it was awkward. It was much too long to use as any form of a staff, especially for someone who was such a novice such as Lee!
Before Tenten could do anything, however... Lee managed to hit himself in the face.
"Lee!" she hollered out, putting on that almost-motherly scolding voice she always had. "What are you doing?"

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Lee stood there rubbing his face, he heard the motherly-scolding voice of TenTen asking what it was he was doing. Well, he had been trying to use a stick to practice some staff since, well, he was so eager to get training. Overall, he was just being his usual enthusiastic self, maybe getting some practice in so when TenTen started teaching him some things he didn’t look like a complete idiot. Of course, he had already kind of done that now. Later on it was going to be 1000 swings with a pole for punishment for this. Besides, he needed the practice as this event showed.
”I was simply attempting to get a head start on my training. Sadly, I went overboard with it and hit myself in the face.” he replied with a salute. Yes, TenTen was his teammate, but today she was the sensei, and he always showed Gai-sensei the utmost respect; therefore he would give TenTen the same. Besides, he was kind of walking on eggshells at the moment. She had gotten rather uspet with him about her hair; he didn’t even think she cared that much about her hair. Still, he didn’t want to get her upset at him again, so he was going to be even more respectful then he usually was towards her. About the only thing he wouldn’t do is call her sensei…unless she wanted to. But it was a title he reserved for Gai-sensei.
Now then, with TenTen now fully caught up on his going ons, it was time to get to work. Kicking the stick away from him (part necessity, part burying his shame), he stood ready to go.
”Now then TenTen, what weapon will we begin my training with?” Lee asked, wondering what goodies TenTen had brought with her today.
Hopefully she had thought the same as him and decided to start off with ranged weapons. Lee was weak at a distance; he only had his Dynamic Entry and Leaf Whirlwind, and those worked to close the distance. The only other thing he had was shuriken; other than that he was worthless at a distance. With that, he knew he needed a way to attack from a distance when he was fighting an enemy he couldn’t get close to. TenTen’s mastery was in such weapons; she had 100 accuracy after all. If anyone could teach him this sort of thing, it would be her.
Then again, he kind of wanted some close range weapon skills as well. He was decent with nun-chucks, but that was about it, and kunai of course. But having some kind of close-range weapon to enhance his strikes would be great. Either way, he was just glad TenTen had forgiven him enough to be willing to teach him anything. No matter what it was she taught him, he would be happy and make the best of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

The chocolate-haired kunoichi's only response to Lee's explanation of what he'd done could only cause her to shake her head, and groan as always. Lee always seemed to have a knack to do some pretty dumb things, it seemed, no matter what the situation was. The boy never thought before he did anything, and even if he did, it was certainly a rare occurrence. As much as she might have admired his determination to do anything possible, she really disliked the fact that he could be so rash and unthinking in his decisions.
"Ugh, Lee, I told you to wait for me before you went into anything involving weapons. They're weapons, which means they're dangerous, and they're specially created to be used in a certain way. Even the smallest imperfection can make a weapon useless in a master's hands," she said, becoming more of a lecturing woman than anything. "To use a weapon properly takes an amount of either innate or natural skill or a lot of practice. I'm sure you remember the saying that 'an expert with a rock can defeat a novice with a shuriken', right?" Nothing like going back to a few of the Academy sayings they'd gone through, one which she'd adhered to quite well, actually. Tenten had devoted her studies as a Genin to learning how to wield and properly use a number of weapons, although she tended to specialize in ranged weapons due to her natural pinpoint accuracy.
As Lee asked what they were going to start with, she could only again admire his determination and willingness to learn. Hopefully he would be able to pick up rather quickly that he would have to listen to her and what she would have to say, lest she have to truly lecture him and possibly cause him an amount of physical pain by turning him into her new pincushion. It wasn't like she was able to do that to Neji, after all - no thanks to his rotation, of course - so she needed someone that she could count on to work as her new pincushion. How else could she work on a moving target otherwise?
"We're going to start with the simplest stuff that we learned in the Academy, but go into it all a little further, Lee," she said, reaching down into her holster. She drew out three shuriken, and gestured for Lee to do the same. "I'm going to retreat a little bit, and I want you to fire three shuriken straight at me. I won't move, but if they're going to hit a vital area, I'm going to knock them down with my own shuriken. If they're not, I'm going to dodge them," she said, explaning the process in which Lee's first little lesson would be carried out. It would be simply to test his relative accuracy, and to see if he could aim for a general area or a vital area with a commonly-inaccurate weapon such as a shuriken. Shuriken were weapons often used to cover a large area to distract an enemy rather than to be used as a direct hit, so if Lee could have a possible chance of scoring a vital hit on a stationary enemy with such a weapon, then that was certainly a start considering how inaccurate a shuriken could be.
"I don't want you to worry about causing me injury, because I'm also going to be carrying this," she added, then drew a kunai in her opposite hand. "If it's going to hit and I can't avoid it, I'll knock it away with the kunai, but that's not really your concern. As it stands now, I'm considered an opponent. You're going to be limited to using your shuriken only, though I'm going to be a stationary target. After that, we'll test how well you can attack a moving target with a shuriken. Sound good?" Starting with the simplest of weapons was probably the best idea, she knew, as getting into the more complex types of blades and ranged weapons was an area that one had to truly focus on. She knew Lee knew a bit about weapons, and she knew he could use a pair of nunchaku quite well, but other than that, he only had the basic knowledge that she had begun with at an early age. Retreating back approximately twenty feet, she stood stationary, both feet planted in a defensive shinobi stance.
"Throw whenever and however you like."

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee stood by ready for action as TenTen began to lecture him…again. This wasn’t the first time that TenTen had lectured him like this. She acted like a second mom to him sometimes, always pointing out when him and Gai-sensei were going too far with their training (as if there was such a thing). In this case, though, she had a point. Weapons were dangerous and not something to play with. If that stick had a blade to it, he could have been seriously injured. He was lucky to have escaped with just a sore face. The rest of what she said sounded important as well; notebook level importance for that matter. As TenTen talked, Lee pulled out his notebook and began writing down what she was saying.
”Small imperfections can make a weapon useless…expert with rock beats novice with shuriken, got it! I completely understand the point you are trying to make TenTen and have written it down to make sure I memorize it!”
With that taken care of, Lee stuffed the notebook back into his pouch before turning his attention back to TenTen. They were going to start off with the basics it seemed. That was always good; reinforce the foundation before building anything else. He had his shuriken on him, so that was not a concern at all. And he was completely confident in TenTen’s skill as a weapon expert to block anything that he threw at her. There was no fear at all that he would hurt her in anyway; in fact, she was probably the one who was going to hurt him if she wanted to.
”Do not fear TenTen. I know full well your skills with weapons and have no doubt you will be able to dodge or block anything I throw at you.” he responded, wanting to spread his enthusiasm to her as best he could. Everyone loved to have their skills praised. Encouragement was the best way to train a student, though the occasional punishment was needed. Right now, however, he didn’t have one in mind. For now, however, he would just focus completely on this training. He would need every ounce of energy and skill in order to impress TenTen’s high level of expertise in weaponry.
He was a little sad he could only use shuriken, but if he tried using taijutsu on her that would ruin the point of the training. Today was all about weapons, not hand-to-hand combat. As for considering her as an opponent, he already pointed out his confidence in her skills. Between the two of them, it was TenTen who would have to actually worry about causing damage. With the right throw she could not only block his stuff but keep on going and hit him. At least she would be a stationary target; that was easier to aim at then a moving one. A good, basic warm-up before getting on to the big stuff.
”All right then TenTen, I am ready to go with full force!” he said as he gave her a thumbs up as she started to head over to her position, defensive and ready to go.
Pulling out three shuriken, Lee began to take aim. He had no fear of actually injuring her, so he decided to try out and see if he could make it toward one of her vital areas. The heart or neck would be the easiest one to aim for due to the size of the target. Furthermore, if he aimed there, even if he was off, it would most likely still hit something like the chest or stomach region. Pulling out one shuriken, Lee took a breath and then threw it at TenTen, aiming straight for her chest region. It curved a little bit to the left though, and was more than likely going to nick her shoulder more than anything.
”All right, shuriken one did not work well. Let us see if shuriken two does any better!”
Taking aim again, Lee followed with the same logic. This time he adjusted his aim for the curving factor, aiming at her right shoulder, hoping that once the curve kicked in it would go to her chest. With another flick of his hand it went sailing, but it messed up again and started flying above her right shoulder. Great, a straight throw at the wrong spot.
”Okay then, last shuriken. If I can not make a perfect throw with this, I will force myself to do 1000 throwing targets after this session is over!” he said, motivating himself as he grabbed the last shuriken.
The situation was this; left curve the first throw, an upward curve the second. Dealing with that upward curve would be easier since the throw was straight. The left curve was too unpredictable for him to manage. Taking one last chance, Lee aimed right down the middle of TenTen’s torso. If the upward curve kicked in it would go to her head. If any other kind of curve occurred, it would hit a shoulder probably. Taking one last breath, Lee let that shuriken fly with his full youthful force behind it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

Tenten nearly balked and groaned at the fact that Lee had taken the liberty to write down what she'd said in his nifty little notebook that he always seemed to carry around. She'd never thought one of her tips would be able to make it into there, but perhaps her knowledge of weapons was enough to actually teach him something important even in a short span of time. Good thing she'd managed to learn all that she could and continue to learn more about weapons and how they were made, otherwise she couldn't even call herself a weapons mistress.
The kunoichi appeared to blatantly ignore Lee's sporadic comments as if they were nothing, because she was considerably used to them. She simply wanted to get down to business and actually teach something, so that Lee could have something other than Taijutsu at his disposal lest he find himself in a situation where that wouldn't be a useful tool. She would, of course, teach him the use of some melee weapons, but she wanted to start with ranged weapons in order to increase his skill with his simplistic kunai and shuriken. She waited defensively as the first shuriken was thrown, and as it curved towards her shoulder, she simply leaned out of the way a small bit to allow it to fly past her rather than into the tissue of her shoulder. It soon embedded itself in the tree behind her, long forgotten as Lee realized his mistake.
The second shuriken throw was a little better, but still not good enough to pass. Tenten didn't even have to move to avoid it; it sailed right over her shoulder, although it was close to a vital area of her neck. An eyebrow raised slightly at it, but the attack didn't faze her a bit. Lee had attempted to compensate for the curve that had been created by the shuriken, but had also failed to notice the change in windspeed with the light breeze that had blown through as he'd thrown the first shuriken. She, however, didn't expect him to compensate for even the slightest of wind, as he most likely wasn't aware that wind made a difference in the throwing of a weapon.
The third shuriken, however, was a slight surprise to her. It wasn't exactly a perfect throw, which meant Tenten simply ducked to dodge it, but it wasn't a terrible throw, either. She nodded her head slightly with a look of appreciation on her face as she put together her final analysis of Lee's ability to throw a shuriken. In a sense, she'd tricked him; she hadn't bothered to tell him that to aim with a shuriken at a vital area was a tough task indeed, and the fact that he'd come so close on two of his three strikes was enough to gain her approval of his skill. It still, however, wasn't enough to allow Lee to call himself an "expert" or even close to such with weapons.
"All right, Lee, that's not too bad," she said, putting away two of the shuriken and the single kunai that she held. "I didn't tell you that shuriken are the hardest weapon to aim with because of their size, because I knew you would most likely attempt to focus more on avoiding that factor or have it assumed that it would be normal for a shuriken to hit off-target in an attempt to hit a vital area," she pointed out, stating her point quite clearly. In other words, she was saying that for how close Lee came, he definitely had some form of natural accuracy, though it wasn't as pinpoint as Tenten's herself.
"Regardless, you came close to hitting a vital area twice with your attacks - once towards the neck, and the other towards the head - which means that you have a very minimal form of natural accuracy, be it literally natural or simply what was learned in the Academy." Her teacher-voice was back again, and she walked towards Lee in an almost casual fashion to avoid having to speak louder over the distance. "What you haven't learned, or rather, weren't taught in the Academy, was the fact that wind speed makes a difference in the throwing of the weapon. In comparison between your first and second throws, there was a breeze - albeit a small one - during the first once, which caused part of the curve away from your intended target area. Therefore, your throw was even further off than you could have anticipated."
Tenten then proceeded to walk over to the targets with a shuriken in hand, and without further ado, waited for the breeze to return, focused for a split second to compensate for it, and threw the shuriken. Her accuracy was, as always, pinpoint and perfect; even with the wind and one of the lowest-accuracy weapons in hand, Tenten still managed to embed the steel weapon in the center of the target. "I have something called natural or innate accuracy, something which some say runs in my family, others which call it a natural talent of mine. You, however, sadly do not have the same sort of accuracy as me, therefore, you're forced to learn to compensate for that lack. I'm sure you understand compensating for a lack of something," she said, referring to Lee's inability to properly mold chakra, and therefore his inability to use jutsu in a proper manner. Sure, he could do simple things, such as climb trees, jump higher, or walk on water, but he couldn't do anything more extravagant like she or even Neji could.
"Still with me?" she asked, making sure he was still paying attention to her little lesson and not off in his own little world.

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee knew that TenTen did not always appreciate his ‘antics’ as she called him. Still, her advice was too valuable to let disappear; it had to be preserved in his notebook alongside the rest of Gai-sensei’s advice. Besides, he might need to remember all of her tips on how to use weapons in the middle of a battle. If he forgot how to use weapons, then he would be in a big mess. No, he must be able to have quick access to any advice that TenTen could give him on weapons when he needed them. Therefore, they must be preserved, no matter how much TenTen thought it was ridiculous. With one last furious writing, Lee put the notebook away.
Lee was disappointed to have found that the first shuriken was dodged so easily. All she had to do was lean out of the way to avoid it. In the middle of a battle that would have been so much easier to dodge it was not funny. Still, that was the point of all of this; to practice throwing in order to figure out the best way to deal with it. Besides, this was TenTen; even if he had thrown it dead straight at her face she would have blocked or dodged it. She was simply that good of a weapon user. The disappointment in his failure soon fell away (Lee was just too naturally optimistic to stay sad for long), and he was ready for a second attempt at a throw.
The second seemed to have gone better. Sure, it did not hit her at all, but he could see her raising an eyebrow at it. That was a sign of two different things. Option 1; the fact that he had gotten so close to her was impressive enough to make her think twice about his own weapon skills. If that was the case, hopefully it made up for his earlier showing when he smacked himself with the stick. The other option was that not even touching her at all was just a complete failure, and she was raising an eyebrow in a sort of “What is wrong with you” manner. Either option was viable, but considering TenTen’s personality, option one was the more likely one. She was not that mean to him; yes, she thought he was weird and probably had asked herself what was wrong with him, but she’d never say it to his face. Besides, this was training; mistakes were expected. Therefore, he logically concluded she was impressed he had gotten so close, and therefore his spirits were raised even higher than they were at the start.
Shuriken number three was the best out of all of them. TenTen had to duck out of the way to avoid it, and she nodded her head at him in appreciation. So apparently he had succeeded in this part of the training for the most part. He had no clue what it was TenTen was thinking at the moment, but it was probably something good. Not wanting to celebrate too early, however, he waited for TenTen to start speaking before giving himself a pat on the back. He was not disappointed. TenTen mentioned that shuriken were the hardest weapons to use due to their size, and that she had not told him about it so he could work with a clear head. Mental tricks to encourage improved performance; he was going to have to remember to use such tricks against himself in the future…once he figured out a way to not tell himself something only he knew. Was that possible?
TenTen then proceeded to say that he had some form of natural accuracy. Considering that was part of what made TenTen’s skill so great, and the fact he didn’t have natural anything else (except naturally high determination), it was a rather joyous occasion. Combining those two together, he might be able to catch up to TenTen’s level one day! Yes, it might be seen as an impossible goal, but that did not scare Lee. Even if he never reached TenTen’s level of expertise with weapons, setting that up as a goal would give him something to work towards. Setting goals was the greatest training of all, even if he never reached them. Once all was said and done, he would still be better off than when he started.
”So what you are saying is that I have at least a small bit of natural accuracy with weapons?” he asked, just making sure to confirm the praise.
Now it was time to point out his mistakes. Lee pulled out the notebook again to take notes on this part. This was the important stuff after all; he needed to know this to improve his weapon skills. In the future he would have to keep an eye on the direction and speed of the wind. That was what had thrown his shuriken off earlier. He had not really noticed that wind though, which meant he was going to have to train himself in detecting the wind. That was going to be a challenge; maybe TenTen knew something he could do.
”TenTen, do you know of any way I could train myself to detect the shifts in wind?” he said as he continued scribbling in his notebook. He didn’t even see that she had gone back to the targets. He looked up, however, once she started throwing her own weapons to show off her innate accuracy. Her comment on his having compensate for lacking something was obviously a reference to fact he had no ability to mold chakra outside of the basics. That was why he was a taijutsu expert after all; to compensate it. However, he had already figured out his skill was not as good as TenTen’s, and therefore he had already planned on adding weapons training into his routine.
”Do not fear TenTen, I will make sure to add in an hour of weapons training into my normal training routine to increase my accuracy!” he replied with a small salute to the teacher. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

It was quite relieving to know that Lee was still with her on anything she'd said, though it only made her groan mentally as he was taking notes of the things she was saying. Then again, she didn't want this information to be gone to waste and forgotten by her green-clad teammate; should he need to remember it, he should have it somewhere, in case she wasn't present, right? It then made sense that he was writing the main points down, but at the same time... It just felt awkward. He only seemed to write things that Gai-sensei would tell him in that particular notebook, so having things she was saying written down... Simply seemed awkward.
"That's exactly what I'm saying, Lee. Most people do have some form of natural accuracy; in some, it may be hardly there, while in others, it could be their strongest trait. Now, how accurate one can throw is a much different story, of course," she added, now reaching back to draw out a kunai for herself. To keep up her demonstration [and slightly to waste time, because she knew Lee already knew how well she could throw] Tenten held the kunai in her hand, then, with an innate amount of natural reflex, threw the kunai towards the target. It embedded directly in the bullseye, as always. Tenten never missed her target. Ever.
"For example, me, I have a high amount of natural accuracy. I know the more complicated ways of actually determining how to throw a weapon, but because my accuracy is natural, I don't have to follow them. I don't have to determine windspeed, or anything like that, because I follow a more intuitive way of accurately throwing a weapon." That itself was exactly what made her so accurate in her throws. She simply had the natural intuition that allowed her to be able to throw so well... Where she got it from, she wasn't exactly sure. She was even more accurate than her mother had ever been.
"But regardless, that's just the basis of regular ranged weapons, Lee," Tenten stated, then reached back to draw out her scrolls. Now she was going to teach Lee how to use melee weapons, weapons which would help him a little better in his techniques. She was going to start with a pair of tonfa, because she had, firstly, her own specialized pair of bladed tonfa, and she also had two pairs of wooden tonfa as well which she could use to teach him. She opened the scroll, bit her thumb, and summoned all three of the aforementioned sets of weapons. She tossed one set of the tonfa to Lee, then picked up the bladed set herself.
"These, Lee, are a pair of tonfa, as you might already know," she stated, flashing the bladed pair in the light slightly. Their sharp edges glinted in the sunlight, showing off how sharp the blade actually was. "Now, we're not going to practice with this particular bladed pair, because that's just too dangerous for someone who doesn't actually know how to use them," she said, twirling the weapons in the usual fashion that she did. Setting down the more dangerous set, however, she picked up the wooden set and faced Lee.
"Ready to learn some melee weapons?"

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not wasting any of this precious knowledge, Lee continued to scribble in his notebook. He had even set apart of the section for “TenTen’s Weapon Training Advice”. She should be so proud to have made such an impact to have gotten her own section in the book that was usually just for Gai. Of course, the others were not as ‘youthful’, so to speak, about his dedication to training and exercise. There was a good chance TenTen might not be so glad he was doing this, but he had to do it in case he forgot anything. Better to be safe and write it down than to be sorry and forget it when the enemy is trying to kill you. Of course, reading a notebook in battle was kind of hard. He would have to make sure to train in that one of these days; read ten pages of a novel during a fight without suffering a decrease in his fighting skills. If he failed, he would read an entire novel in one night to make up for it. First though, he would have to…
Whoops, his mind was wandering again. Lee snapped to attention just in time for TenTen to show off her accuracy skills. As usual, it was a bullseye. Lee applauded the show, acting as if he had just heard everything that she had just said perfectly. His mind raced to figure out what the appropriate response was. She had shown off her accuracy, so it was probably something about that. Maybe a little sucking up would just be a good idea and hopefully save him some pain.
”Just as perfect as always TenTen.” He said, giving her a thumbs up.
She then went on to describe her own natural accuracy again, saying she had an innate sense of how to throw a weapon. Lee wished he had an innate sense of something; he had to train up everything he knew how to do now. Then again, there was honor and glory in that; working hard and improving yourself through your own blood, sweat, and tears. Sure, he was no natural genius like the others on his team, but he was the (self-declared) genius of hard work. If he did not have an innate sense of accuracy, he would just train himself to have one. All it would take would be a couple hundred shuriken or kunai, a target, possibly a snack halfway through. Yeah, and if that failed, he would just do another day of training. And then another, and another, and another. Soon he would be hitting the bullseyes like TenTen without even having to think about it that much.
For now, however, it seems that it was time for them to move on from ranged to melee weapons. Good, he already had some experience with this due to his nun-chucks and taijutsu training. Lee stepped back as TenTen went to work summoning some weapons to use. He recognized them as tonfa, but sadly he knew he would not get to use those bladed ones. Those were TenTen’s special tonfa’s; she’d kill him if he even tried to touch them. Catching one set of tonfa, Lee began to prep himself as TenTen began speaking again. She said what he already knew; no bladed tonfas.
”I understand TenTen. After my display with the ‘staff’, I agree it is safe to not use bladed weapons.” Lee said as he secured the weapons on his arms. He had seen TenTen use them enough to at least know how to put them on right. When she asked if he was ready, Lee nodded.
”I am always ready to learn TenTen.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

Well, at least Lee was eager to learn rather than eager to sit there and do nothing... Strangely enough, he hadn't managed to get on her nerves quite yet, a feat which he usually accomplished in a matter of minutes. Then again, those sorts of instances were usually when Gai-sensei was around... And when the two of them were put in a room together [or in a general vicinity of a mile] there was usually bound to be annoyances left, right, and center for the kunoichi, whether it be the offering of the horrid, disgusting, and ugly green jumpsuit, or just general irritance... Perhaps Gai was the key to creating that. She'd have to point out the subject to Neji at some point, optimistically of course. She didn't want to upset the Hyuuga, after all.
"All right, well, here's the basics of tonfa, then," she started, readjusting her grip on her own set so that she was more comfortable. "I think they'd be a good weapon for you because your fighting style is based more on kicks and attacks using the feet rather than textbook punches and hand-based striking," she started, poising herself in an attack position. One arm was forward, the other held closer to her body, ready to snap outwards if necessary. "Extend your arm as if you're puncing me, Lee," she said, and when he'd extended it, she took a step in and used the tonfa to block the strike as if she wasn't even wielding the weapon at all. "It can be used to block attacks such as that, even kicks as well. While the wooden pair isn't quite as dangerous as its bladed partner, it can still deliver some fine blows. Of course, to attack with a tonfa is a little different."
As these were more practice tonfa than anything - or so she called them, because these type of tonfa were used more for parrying than directly attacking - the manouevers would be much less effective, but Tenten wasn't worried about that. If Lee could get a good grasp of using the wooden pair, she'd then move onto the ones that were made of steel rods, and eventually, the pristine bladed pair. If he could get a good grasp of how to use them. It wasn't that she doubted his ability, but her bladed tonfa - and any other high-grade weapon she owned - were rather precious to her... Perhaps it was a bit dumb for her to hold, of all things, weapons, in such high regard, but she was a weapons mistress, after all. There was one person she put on the highly-revered pedestal of intelligence, so she needed something other than a person to put up there, too. It was only logical that her favourite accessories and her technical best friend would be in that particular position.
With a simple twist of the wrist, Tenten slowly demonstrated a downward strike, the end of the tonfa that was usually near her elbow now pointed somewhat forward. Had she been actually attempting to attack Lee and using a bladed pair, the attack would have sliced him vertically down the torso, and probably quite deep, too. Following up, she twisted around and delivered a backwards, sweeping vertical strike, the same as the first but from a much more momentum-based movement. Her third demonstrated strike was a little bit quicker, tearing the end of the weapon horizontally across where an opponent's abdomen would have been, in a similar fashion to using a sword or even a short blade. However, that was now enough of her demonstration. It was time to put Lee in a more comfortable position with fighting using the tonfa, by giving him the leeway to use his Taijutsu in coordination with it.
"Well, Lee, come at me with all you've got. That includes Taijutsu," she said, leaping back a good three feet after she spoke, a smile crossing her face.

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, it was time to get started with the tonfa training. Lee pulled all his energy on paying attention to TenTen as she began to speak. He gave a slight nod when she mentioned that his style was focused on kicks and attacks using the feet. While yes he did use his fist, many of the more dramatic techniques of the style like Dynamic Entry and Leaf Rising Wind used the feet. How weapons attached to his arms, however, were supposed to help him was a bit of an odd thought? Before questioning and thinking, however, he watched as TenTen got into attack position and began to describe how one could use the tonfa for defense as well as the blows.
”So what you are saying is that I can use the tonfa to increase my defensive capabilities and add extra power to my punches, correct?” he asked, to make sure that he could clarify it. His hands were busy holding the tonfa, so he obviously couldn’t write anything down. For now he would have to make sure she repeated it enough it would stick in his head so he can write it down later.
Lee watched as TenTen performed a downward strike, with the part of the tonfa that was normally near the elbow facing forward. His eyes glanced over to the bladed tonfa’s, realizing that if it had been one of those someone would have been sliced up. The next strike was similar but was done backwards and with momentum-based power to it. The final one used the end of the blade to tear at the weapon, sort of like how one would use a sword. That one was a little more understandable to use. TenTen finished her little demonstration. Apparently it was his time to try it out, and when TenTen said that he could use his Taijutsu, well, his day was made. He saluted her, making sure to be careful not to himself in the face with the tonfa as he did so.
”Right then TenTen. I will do my best to make you proud.”
Moving into the same attack position that TenTen had gotten too, Lee tried to figure out what to do next. Using tonfa for his first attack would have been to his disadvantage. TenTen was better than he was at using it, so if he tried to start things off with them TenTen would kick his butt. Using his taijtusu, however, would have been more predictable of him. What a conundrum, no? Either risk using the new attacks and getting his butt kicked, or be predictable and use his taijutsu. Or he could, you know, use both of them together somehow. Well, the tonfa’s seemed to act a bit like a kunai knife; maybe he could use similar tactics with them as he did with kunai?
”Watch out TenTen; here I come!” It was a training match; he could get away with warning her.
He started off with what he could do best; kicks. Taking a step forward, Lee then swung his leg towards TenTen head. Using that momentum, he brought his other leg up as the first leg hit the ground. As this leg went up his body began to turn, and so by the time he finally got both of his feet on the ground his body had made a full 180. Knowing full well that it was bad to have his back to the opponent, Lee knew he was going to have to move quickly. He quickly turned around, bending downwards as he did so. Swinging the tofa’s around, he had the long part facing towards TenTen and made an attempt to strike at her legs. He added in a vertical slice to it, so it would end up going diagonal across. Whether or not this hit, Lee started to stand up, but added a jump into it to gain some distance. Not much, just enough that he could react to whatever it was TenTen tried to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^^

It had been a semi long day for Hyosuke, he had been dealing with his sister being sick all morning before his grandmother was able to come over and his father was out on a mission with a few of the other members of the clan. Hyosuke was left to the estate like he was normally was when his father left. It was nothing new to him, but he was grateful that his grandmother came over and took care of his sister. He was never good at making her happy when she was sick and left that to their grandmother, who seem to make everything better when they was sick. He decided to sneak out of the house when she came over to get in a few hours of training.
When Hyosuke came up to the field he saw that none of the main open ones was opened and he didn’t feel like training with anyone else that just made Genin. He walked around and heard some people talking. The one word that he picked up in all of the talking was the word tonfa. He looked down to his side and saw his pair hanging on his belt. He reached down and touched them for a quick second before he was following the voices.
He leaned up against the tree and looked over his shoulder. He first spotted Lee and frowned some. He remembered him from his time at the academy. He was the one in their class that could not perform ninjutsu. Before Hyosuke graduated he was able to create at least a water clone taught to him by his father. ”I see that idiot is still going strong in his taijutsu ways, but why is he holding those tonfa? I thought he was the taijutsu user only….”
His train of thought quickly ended when he saw Tenten. The one thing he recognized her by was her hair buns on her head. He frowned even more when he realized it was it was the girl that scared him during kunai practice a lot during the academy days. He was glad that he was not place on a team with either one of them. He was not sure if he could handle Lee’s upbeat ways and her constant attempts at making everything into a walking pincushion. He knew where the tonfas was coming from now. ”She trying to teach him how to use a weapon. Great more of a reason to stay away from the green idiot.” He closed his eyes for a moment. He had every reason to walk away from the two of them, but was afraid to move at the moment.
Hyosuke was about to move away from the tree, but he was stopped when his foot pressed against a broken tree branch. It had cracked just a bit, but he hope the two nearby did not hear it. He could have jumped up onto the tree branch, but he did not want to risk it for now. He crouched down slightly to hide behind the trunk of the tree. A bit of his brown hair was sticking out from over the trunk. His hair was something that he needed to train to keep down.

Tenten could tell from the way that Lee was moving that he was resorting to Taijutsu as his first attacks... It was such a conundrum. If he came at her with Taijutsu, it would be obvious to her, but if he came at her with the tonfa, she would beat him. The only possible way he could get something was if he were to use a mixture... That, of course, which Tenten now anticipated simply from logic. She knew Lee was no real idiot, though he could do some pretty idiotic things at times. He had a brain, and when it came down to it, he knew how to use it, too.
As the first strike came up towards her head, Tenten simply followed the momentum of the strike by moving; she leaped to the side as it swung clear of where she'd been standing, her stance more defensive now, solid and stationed but light on her feet should she need to move. She then ducked to avoid the second attack rather than move the opposite way, and now she was in a lower stance much like Lee soon became when he attacked with the tonfa. It connected with her own tonfa, glancing off with a small clank.
The minute she heard the tree branch snap, she froze instantly. Lee would get the hint as well just from the look in her eyes; she was going to investigate, guessing that it had come from behind. Turning around, she dropped the two wooden tonfa, grabbed her special bladed pair and, seeing a tuft of brown hair sticking out from behind the tree trunk, scaled the tree using her Tree Climbing technique and came behind whomever it was that was watching.
Behind it, she found a boy about the same age as them... She recognized him, and mentally, she smirked. She remembered him a little too well... She'd scared him a few times in the Academy when she'd been training with her kunai, her impeccable accuracy appearing to give him the chills. If Tenten was anything, she was perceptive, and she guessed that he'd only been here a short while. He must've been watching their little training session.
"So care to explain what in the world you are doing interrupting us?" She seemed a bit less than friendly, perhaps, but it was a bold question nonetheless. It was a good thing Lee could somewhat read her and figure out what she was doing; if he hadn't been able to do so, he would have probably attacked her from behind. Thankfully he's not like that bumbling idiot Naruto...
"Well?"

^^^Rock Lee^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, at least he had fought her to a draw of sorts. The first strike she simply moved out of the way, and then she ducked to avoid his second kick. When the tonfa attack came, they simply clashed together, with his glancing off. Turning himself around, Lee stood back up and went into a defensive mode in order to figure out what to do next. TenTen had dodged and blocked everything; nothing that he had not expected of course. Still, he wished he had at least hit here once. That was it; goal time. If he did not hit TenTen at least 10 times before this training session was over, he would do 500 strikes against a training dummy.
Before anything could be done, however, Lee noticed that TenTen had froze instantly. Her perception was better than his, but even he could catch onto something. Getting into a defensive position, Lee started to scan the area for signs of, well, anything. It could have been an animal of course, but they would have seen something moving. Yet, what enemy ninja would attack two Konoha Genin in the training grounds so close to the village? It was guaranteed trouble if someone would attempt that. They would be spotted for sure…if the two of them didn’t beat them down first.
Lee watched as TenTen walked over to a bush, after getting her bladed pair of tonfa of course. Lee kept an eye on the rear as he followed her, in case this was an ambush of some sort. He wouldn’t use the tonfa should an attack occur; he’d just use taijutsu. Though using the tonfa against enemy ninja would be a great way to train! So yeah, if they were attack, he would use the tonfa and score 10 hits on them with them or he would add another 250 strikes to the promised strikes in relation to TenTen.
Disappointingly, it was not an enemy ninja; it was just another Konoha nin that was spying on them. Lee’s disappointment was rather obvious. He had been really looking forward to fighting some enemy ninja. Instead, all he got was another Konoha nin. TenTen, however, seemed to know the kid, and Lee swore he saw him before. Sadly, he couldn’t exactly remember; probably a classmate from the Academy. Still, he was going to act as if he knew him till he had further information. And of course, his approach to this was much different from TenTen’s. After all, this person could be another sparring partner.
”TenTen, do not be so harsh on him. I am sure we can work out a deal between us. He could serve as a sparring partner for our training session. The more the merrier, correct?” he asked, excited at the prospect at having someone else to train with. He truly believed in the ‘more the merrier’ mantra. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^^^Konoha’s Handsome Green Devil^^

Hyosuke glanced back over his shoulder and Tenten coming. He also noted that change in weapons. Tonfa, that had blades on the sides. He had heard about those, but his cousin had told him that they were a little bit more difficult to handle from time to time. He was happy with his iron tonfas for now. They did what they needed to do on missions and all that. He was never seen without them not either. They were his primarily source of fighting, if could not do his taijutsu with them then he had his ninjutsu that he was working on.
Hyosuke watched Tenten stalk over to the bush. He held his hand up and created a clone and disappeared and jumped up a good few branches from them in the tree. There was no way he was going to be caught by those bladed weapons that easily or by his fellow class mates from the academy. He had grown since the academy and did not want them to think he was the same Hyosuke from the old days. He had landed just as Tenten started to scale the tree and he was higher up than her.
The clone looked over his shoulder and waited for Lee to come up behind Tenten. He listened to the both of them and turned to each of them. The clone had been meant for if Tenten decided to use the blades on him and that had failed. At least Tenten and Lee knew how to hold back when it came to someone that recognized. After a moment more, the clone eruption into smoke.
Hyosuke, himself jumped down to a lower branch of the tree and watched the two. ”Nice to see, the two of you gain some self control over things.” He meant the comment more towards Lee than anything. He knew how dangerous Tenten was with her weapons. ”I heard someone mention tonfa and saw the two of you training is all. I went to walk away when my foot hit a branch and alerted you to me. Sorry.” He watched them for a moment. Wither or not when they believed him did not matter to him. He knew he was right and he was pretty sure that neither one of them knew about the Iwahashi Clan bloodline.
He looked over to Lee when he started to talk about another training partner. He had never gone up with a strictly taijutsu user and weapon specialist. The only really jutsu he had up his sleep was his water clone at the moment. He knew Tenten was fairly dangerous with the tonfa, but he had been training with his since he was six or so. He looked over to the clearing for a moment and back to Tenten. He was more interesting in training with her then Lee at the moment. ”I rather train with Tenten with her blade tonfa, Lee. You are strictly a taijutsu user. Tenten on the other hand uses one of the types of weapons I use. I have no use to go up against you, Lee.” He did not even bat an eye when he spoke. He was not looking down on Lee, he was glad when lee graduated the academy with jutsu taijutsu, but there were things he rather not do now.
